If you had to choose one of these two professions, which would you choose and why?

I would go for police as it's less likely I would be asked to shoot someone.

My brother-in-law was in the army for years and was moved around at a moments notice...at one point my sister was heavily pregnant and had no-where to live while they buggered up the arrangements for married quarters...Police Officers spouses don't have to put up with what Army spouses have to put up with, so I think the Police....and the money is much better I think....

I don't think I'd like to be either, particularly. However, I did once go out with a soldier, but I would never go out with a policeman.

I'm no fan of either but if forced to choose I'd see if I could go into the armed forces on the medical side of things - even in an unjust and illegal war there's no shame in patching people up.

Armed forces.

I'd join the regimental marching band.

Can't see us invading another middle eastern country wielding cymbals and trumpets.

I wouldn't half like to be a cop who does car chases. Or nicking a rapist would be satisfying. Draw the line at quelling strikes though - leave that to the army.

I wouldn't serve the English empire's army anyway.

But if you were in the army Ern you'd have access to guns, you'd get a chance to start an armed rebellion (and shoot a few trots and politicos).

Do you get to choose which branch of the crown forces you can join? Being a fighter pilot would be quite cool, flying over Bernard Matthews turkey farm and giving them all cardiacs....see how he likes that.

I'd get them light machine guns from the station and pop them trots from there.

Police. Then I could shoot people I don't like the look of and get away with it.

In the army you only get to shoot foreigners, as a rule.

you can start to plot a military coup if y'r in the services...

You can start in the squaddies' pub in Colchester.....then I'd get called in to arrest the fuckers as they stamp on your 'fick bogtrotter skull'....

Some concerned passers-by called the fuzz as they saw a wee squaddie (drinking mineral water) getting a pool queue shoved up his aris.

Lucky for you, eh, son? Now, mind as you go...

dai dixon of dock green! :D

I did actually go in to an Army Careers office once when I was about 19. Asked if I would have to do the training to be a war photographer. 'YES' they said - end of that.

If I was forced to choose I'd go for Police and hopefully get a nice job in the DS that took me on travels to sunny countries. Undercover in Colombia would be so fucking cool :D

Riot Police have the most fun, I think. I'd volunteer for all the Countryside Alliance protests and kick the crap out of Bob Geldof. Miserable nobhead.
