The two best climbers among my friends are 6 foot 4 and 5 foot 2. It's not as much of a benefit as you might think being tall. A lot of competition bouldering relies on balance and flexibility. A smaller person's centre of gravity balances out the reach of somebody who is tall. It's quite meritocratic really. As someone said yesterday, crafty contenders come up with solutions the problem setters hadn’t considered. Being freakishly tall would surely help.

Genuinely don’t know if this is actual terminology or a pisstakeThat backslide into the 5-0 snowplow into the 270 fakey lipdrive at the deepend. amazing. oh the switch cooked grind to finish it at the pocket!! Lovely madonna to finish it up too.
After feeling old, yesterday, about being older than the collective ages of the three women's medalists, it's comforting to see someone marginally older than me in the men's event. There's a 49yo out there pulling off front side nose grinds in the deep end. Respect

It depends on the route. Some routes may favour taller people, but some will definitely favour shorter people. Low holds on an overhang, tight bridging, etc all are horrible if you are tall.As someone said yesterday, crafty contenders come up with solutions the problem setters hadn’t considered. My BIL (who was a skateboarder back in the day) very reluctantly stopped 'demonstrating how it was done' (ie having a go) to my nephew when my sister pointed out you don't bounce as well in your 50s as you do in your teens/20s. This is only going to embolden him.Andy Macdonald at 51 flying on that skateboard, absolutely inspiring!

Right! My BIL is undeterred though.I have an old skateboard but am terrified of going on it cos I would probably break a hip now

There can't be another sport in the world where you have a 51yo competing against a 16yo.
Off the top of my head...There can't be another sport in the world where you have a 51yo competing against a 16yo.
And pulling off a stale fish reverse in the jump box with an indie 360 like that.
There are tons. Archery, Bowls, Cricket, Darts...and that's just off the top of my head going through the alphabet.
Risky to go for the scrambled egg 540 there.
