I saw somewhere he was faster over 10k (I think) as a youth than Mo Farah at the same age so he's obviously pretty good at this running thing.Just checked and his slowest ever parkrun was faster than my fastest. And that was when he was 12 years old

Have to say, I did a double take when I saw the Maître d' of First Dates Fred Sirieix as part of the BBC diving commentating team. On further investigation his daughter is a Team GB diver so I guess he knows a thing or two about it.

Wonderful BMX final and just a joy to watch. Congrats Keiran on his silver. The defending champion Aussie sums up the great attitude- smiling and laughing when he slipped a pedal on his second run to finish bottom and chatting and laughing with Keiran at the end. Great stuff!

The BMX (which was great fun) compares and contrasts somewhat with the Shooting (trap?) which is literally 'nothing to see here' because you can't see the disc (I think I saw 1 in about 100 shots). The similarity is both defy commentary. BMX because it's just too quick. Trap shooting because the commentator is reduced to simply reading out the scores.
Having said that, Guatemala, a country I love, have just won their first ever Olympic Gold in the shooting. Good on them and watch out Belize.

Quite a few of the middle distance runners do them, I know Jake Wightman does from time to time.
Think he generally takes it a bit easy though and finishes in around 15 mins.

BMX is insane. Unbelievably dangerous. Yeah, they're wearing helmets, but get it wrong and who knows what bones you could smash. Impressive.

X-Games-style events have a totally different vibe from most other Olympic events. It's all about supporting one another and going wow when someone completes an insane trick. Who cares what country they're from, that was coooooool.

Team GB lads were absolutely brilliant there, not just finishing in the top 8 but superbly consistent all the way round in a final where loads of the big hitters unexpectedly fucked up.
