I've been reading this for almost 12 hours now, yet nor a single link. I have though read the unions saying that a) they're not allowed to strike over this and b) 9f they could the legal timetable makes a Nov 2nd walkout impossible. So it's either not true or there's political wildcat - and there's been loads over there sine gulf war 2.

Im getting the info via #anon ircs and from activists based over there... usually solid sources...
in fairness havent come across much mainstream reporting as yet... though this doesnt surprise me either..
I'ts still early in the day there at the mo (we are 7 hours ahead), im sure more 'confirmed' sources will pop up as the day progresses...

The Occupy Wall Street protesters who were left without power after their gas-fueled generators were confiscated by New York City authorities on Friday may have found the idea solution in the form of a stationary bicycle hooked up to charge batteries.
Stephan Keegan of the non-profit environmental group Time’s Up showed off one of the bikes to The Daily News, explaining that OWS’s General Assembly has already authorized payment for additional bikes and that “soon we’ll have ten of these set up and we’ll be powering the whole park with batteries.”

Federal judge orders TN to stop arresting Occupy Nashville protesters

A federal judge granted a temporary restraining order today requiring the state to stop arresting Occupy Nashville protesters at Legislative Plaza.
Local attorneys and the American Civil Liberties Union of Tennessee filed a lawsuit this morning against Gov. Bill Haslam and other state officials and requested a temporary restraining order to prevent any further arrests. U.S. District Judge Aleta A. Trauger granted the request. The state did not object to the restraining order and agreed to work out its differences with protesters.

GENERAL STRIKE --- OAKLAND In addition to staging a walkout of businesses and schools, the protest intends to shut down the Port of Oakland by forming a picket line before the 7 p.m. night shift.

In the city, Occupy San Francisco has also pledged support, with some members planning to meet at Justin Herman Plaza before taking BART to meet up with protesters in Oakland. There is, of course, the possibility that SFPD or BART officials could shutdown San Francisco BART stations during evening commute hours on Wednesday in order to block a mass movement across the Bay.

Apologies if this has been Posted. An interesting, and simple analysis of the current crisis in capitalism by David Harvey. Interesting for 2 reasons: 1. It's from a Marxist perspective. 2. His injuction to "join an anti-capitalist movement" is quite prescient given that he gave this talk last year.

The San Francisco Police Department is coming to cite and arrest occupiers at 101 Market St. at 3pm today for having tents up! Come show support for the right to protest in any fashion or form well being able to cover and protect yourself from all weather conditions. The right to assemble musn't be dictated by laws created to address problems that are only covering up the symptoms of a broken system!
