Srsly, who knew Frasier would beat Always Sunny? Do better this time, Urban!
I watched Veep off the back of that poll - fucking shite.

The rules: -

To be eligible, a show must feature one or more main character(s) who is/are primarily occupied with the solving of crimes, or crime-related mysteries (cops, PIs, cursed American novelists...). Shows that focus heavily on the villains and not on the forces of truth and justice (Breaking Bad, the Sopranos) do not count. Prison shows, too, are out - not that I would ever wish to down play the theft of tinned pineapple chunks. As with last time, no cartoons or films. No secret agent or super hero bullshit either.

No need to re-nominate anything - if it's nominated, it'll go into the draw. Rounds will be drawn from a hat (or possibly a box of some kind, exhibiting the relevant qualities of a hat in such a circumstance). The number of rounds and number of qualifiers from each will be determined once the nominations are in. There'll be no seeds this time, so vote carefully.

Nominations close Sunday 27th August 2017.

My nominations (I reserve the right to add more once I've remembered they exist): -

The Wire
The Bill
A Touch of Frost
Cracker
Prime Suspect
Jonathan Creek
Messiah
Luther
The Sweeney
NYPD Blue
Sherlock
Happy Valley
Agatha Christie's Poirot

We're gonna need a bigger box. ( Or hat)

Does radio count? If so, Dick Barton Special Agent.

Another great theme tune. Perhaps we can do a sister draw for cop show theme tunes?

I'd forgotten both the Chinese Detective ( Brilliant for its time ) and Anna Lee. (I'm still a bit in love).

Juliet Bravo?

Holby Blue?

Hamish McBeth (brilliant)

The Knock ( less so) HM Customs but meets your criteria.

And from across the pond Charlie's Angels???

Columbo.

I'm working my way through the box set at the moment, an episode a night. I've just had an excellent couple of evenings with Martin Landau playing twins, Martin Sheen and Vincent Price in the same episode, and then last night Donald Pleasence playing the most wonderfully eccentric wine snob. Three excellent episodes.

My second nomination is for Cagney and Lacey because it never gets enough love.
