As discussed on previous threads, no-one (well, at least no-one I know) is saying players aren't allowed to make contact, but it's a question of how much contact and what type of contact. He was nowhere near the ball and just hung on to Robben - that's when it stops being football, imo.

It was a bit more than fleeting, I'd say. He slowed Robben down and disrupted his rhythm, without making any real attempt to get the ball. The fact that Robben went theatrical with it is a different matter, and again I'd say that he wouldn't feel the need if football employed a sensible advantage rule like rugby.

There was one that looked like a decent shout for a penalty.

Both of the commentators on Univision thought it was a clear penalty, but they seem to be cheering for Costa Rica, so i'm not especially confident in their objectivity.

Disrupting an attackers rhythm and slowing him down is part of defending. Have you ever played footy?

Robben is a diving cheat and refs take that into account.

There is an advantage rule in football. It can't be the same as rugby because football is a more natural, less contrived game.
