So, who here watches Inspector George Gently, the sixties-set, Durham based police procedural, in which the eponymous detective solves murders with the help of his 12 year old son, Detective Sergeant John Bacchus?
Very like Endeavour, with the difference being that Endeavour Morse hated the sixties ("that's not music, that's noise"), and these guys don't.

Territory is great fun if you like that sort of thing.
It's an Australian version of Yellowstone, right down to the cliff-hanger endings and plot lines, and pretty shameless about it. Hopefully it'll run as long.
We decided to give the first episode ago to check it out and ended up bingeing the first 4 until 3am.

Started the animated steampunk series Arcane.
Impressive - the animation reminds a bit of the Spiderverse films, and the story is engaging in a subterranean existence versus the elites kind of way. Also Magisterium vibes in there, so Pullman fans might like it. Voice talent includes Hailee Steinfeld and the unmistakable Shohreh Aghdashloo.

When my wife was watching Yellowstone, I said to her, well he will be used to living in the wilderness with all that time he spent with the native American tribe, he even married one, she said, what when did they show that.

Yellowstone has a conservative audience, which kind of puts me off but am curious as to what it's like.

My daughter gave that a try on friday, I had to leave to go somewhere but watched the first 10 minutes and wasn't impressed.
The daughter however did like it. Said it got better and had a decent enough story.
Have you seen the new Netflix version of Ranma? Even moreso than the new version of Takashi Rumiko's Urusei Yatsura, it's very faithful to the style and feel of the original manga. I am impressed. Though it's hard to tell if I am 'enjoying' enjoying it, or I am enjoying the nostalgia (I read the manga maybe 30 years ago).
Bring on the Maison Ikkoku remake.

I think they're great but modern westerns aren't everyone's cup of tea. Watch a couple of episodes. You'll know pretty quickly if it's for you.

I've only seen the first two episodes of Territory, can't see it being better than Yellowstone but it's very watchable.
Did you like Sons of Anarchy? It has similar themes, only on horses. Lots of macho shit, people getting shot, family loyalty and hubris.
I loved it.
Also 1833, although that is very grim. It has a 17 year old female protagonist, so less macho shit.
I'll give it a try. I watched Sons of Anarchy but I didn't love it.

Am about 4 episodes into Arcane, now. It's exceptional and gorgeous looking, and obviously you're not going to get much out of just watching ten minutes.

My initial reaction was that I hated the animation style, so that is offputting for me for a start.
I don't like D&D style fantasy and the first ten minutes felt like it was leaning in that direction. I wasn't getting into it but then I was also getting ready to go out.
My daughter will want to watch more and I am happy for her to. I will probably be in the room when this happens so let's see how it progresses.

Not watched the Ranma remake yet.
I used to really like Ranma. But I'm not sure what the remake will add.
Dispite my namesake I never watched the Inuyasha sequel staring the kids of the previous characters.

Worst thing about it in my opinion.
My daughter however loves creepy nuts. Disappointing.
Very nicely animated. Best I have seen in years, really really stylish. I don't care that much about the story, but the episode where we get a stand alone back story of the demon mum who wants her daughter back should probably win awards.
It adds a LOT. I couldn't watch the the 90s anime version. Looked like shit and was generally irritating. This is almost like watching the manga in spirit and in design.
However, I did get incredibly bored with the manga after a time. The story didn't really have legs. I used to get irritated that everyone fell in some kind of chinese drowned spirit pool, but I now understand that the ridiculousness of that is the charm.
Also Mob Psycho has great animation. I love the simple style. Again, I couldn't really give two hoots about the actual story (and fights in general bore me). Again, my wife and daughter really love this one. . . but I have stopped paying attention now that it has become all bombastic episode long fighting.

Know it's been around for a while but binge watched The Diplomat...really enjoyed it, had flavours of the old House Of Cards and i know it's probably bunkum but kept me very engaged and well acted.

I tried the first episode but it just felt really wooden and derivative. Perhaps not helped by the fact I'd just finished Industry and it seemed so stale in comparison. I guess it must get a lot better? I did enjoy House of Cards, despite its many flaws.
