Am I the only person who thinks The Diplomat is crap?

Possibly I had wrong expectations about it. But it's just lightweight nonsense. I'd like to express particular vitriol for the composer of the incidental music. It turns it into a trite comedy drama.

In The Loop seems more realistic

I watched a few episodes but couldn't see the fuss. Didn't feel to give it any more time.

Its... ok, like its better than 90% of most things that get put on Netflix and enjoyable enough to just sit down and zone out in.

It has no fucking clue how the British political system works (and barely much better an idea on the US one) and its heavy handed as shit - yes of course the PM is Boris, get it yet?

Its certainly not daring or innovative but the plot is at least moderately coherent and its production values are fairly good. Casting is decent as well.

Lift Like A Girl — an amazing documentary about an intense coach training girls to weightlift at international championship standards in a bit of scrubland in Egypt. No voiceovers, no narrative, just footage, but that footage really tells a story. It raises difficult questions about what is and isn’t acceptable ways to treat kids, and what they gain and lose from such intensity.

Sounds interesting. Haven't found anything to watch on Netflix in ages so will give this a go.

Finished Rough Diamonds - end episode maybe not quite on the same level as the rest of the series, but it did the job.

Final scenes were perhaps a little too Godfatheresque, but that's a perennial hazard of gangster stuff.

Some talk of it coming back for a second series, but nothing's been confirmed yet.

Sweet Tooth series 2 is a bit shit isn't it?
. . . And how is the turtle boy wearing clothes under his shell? It would be his spine.

Netflix original- Sanctuary -
Japanese sumo drama has a touch of the late stage Miike Takashis TV to it. Not the greatest thing ever, but it's the best thing I'm watching at the moment (and it's quite well made).

I am now about half way through and I getting into Sanctuary. Recommended.
Surprisingly I am finding the actual sumo matches the best bits. I think some actual sumo fights filmed in a close up cinematic manner would look rather excellent just as they are.

Just finished the four parter, Inside Man. Fantastically dark with some lol thrown in too. Well worth a watch.

Was that on one of the terrestrial channels a while back? If so I saw it then (well binged it on the relevant streaming service!) and as usual David Tennant is excellent. Might watch it again on Netflix just because :D

Bought a ruckload of Netflix shares when they announced the password crackdown. Predictably, people are moaning about it then dutifully buying their own account. Shares are up 20% kerching

Watching Vortex, a French series. Interesting premise.

"In 2025, thanks to a new technology, police officers can immerse themselves in crime scenes, reconstructed in virtual reality, to help them solve their investigations. When Ludovic, a police captain, uses VR to analyze the crime scene of a drowned woman on a beach in Brest, someone appears to him."

test

There's no spoiler in the spoiler... It was late, I was going to say something, but now I've completely forgotten what I was going to say.:rolleyes::facepalm::D

I think you need to remove the / from the first spoiler tag

This is brilliant so far and I feel the second part of your post about the spoiler code has distracted people from the first.

Very strong first episode for me. Well written and engaging from the off. Another thumbs-up here :)
