Netflix recommendations

I'd like to submit another vote for Queen Charlotte, I think it's been pretty well done, it's well plotted and written, the dialogue is modern but without words like 'ok' or 'gonna' or 'wonna' shudder and again I've googled George, Charlotte and their many progeny, interesting lives these people led.
Yes, it's much more serious and sad than Bridgerton, but very enjoyable.

Diplomat is flawed but hugely addictive. Excellent characters and some good lines.
“ why don’t we talk to The Russians ? Deadpan “ I think they are busy “

Just watched the final episode, the scene where Brimsley dances on his own, oh my goodness, there's something in my eye ...

We have just binged Diplomat in 2 nights...Loved it, great stuff,... and the ending
This is a big problem. The ending wasn't an ending. It was right in the middle of the story arc, just as it gets interesting. TV series do this a lot nowadays and I find it intensely irritating. I took a recommendation from here to watch Severance and I enjoyed it, but it does the same thing - ends in the middle.

Tbf, cliffhangers have been around for aeons

Rough Diamonds

The prodigal son of a family orthodox Jewish diamond dealers in Amsterdam comes home after 15 years in the secular world. When you first see him you think, well he's probably a cop, or ex-military or something like that - no, it's something rather darker! His connections will prove useful, but also . . . problematic. And I hope I haven't given too much away with that one.

A good bit of work, especially compared to the travesty that is Transatlantic.

Oh, Transatlantic was recommended on the spy thread... one to avoid, then?

That one isn't really a cliffhanger though. It is, according to three act drama rules, exactly the halfway point. There is no conclusion to any part of the story (and I twigged it by episode 3, so it wasn't exactly a brilliantly concealed twist). GoT, LoD, BB, all gave an end to particular bits of the story, while raising bigger questions for future series'. This just stopped. Like ESB, but worse.

Its weird and gets weirder...but I stuck with it. It is completely unpredictable.
And it's probably going to be a cult series.

As someone wrote , "ifs like a Munch painting come alive "
I should say...it goes off in tangents that really are confusing. There were times I thought I had missed an episode because pieces don't fit together. It's chaotic.

I stopped watching when the captured female character escaped. I might go back to it.

I’ve not watched anything on Netflix for ages, except the occasional Star Trek oldie. If my daughter gets The Email (we use her account), we’ll just stop.

Watched The American.
Wasn't enthused.
I kept waiting for something to happen...and it just wasn't "meaningful" enough acting from George. He just doesn't ever look like he has a deep thought going on...even when he is supposed to.

I think I have said it before and will say it again, as I have recently rewatched all 3, but for anyone new to Netflix who hasn't seen these, the best things on Netflix IMO are:
Mindhunter
The OA
Sense8

The Haunting of Hill House is in a runner up position.

(I should probably stress that all of these series are adult viewing, disregard if you are on the lookout for stuff to watch with children!)
Really enjoyed Mind Hunter. Quality production. Sadly cancelled after a couple of series because it was too expensive. Going to try your other recommendations. Left to my own devicesI would never have spotted Mind Hunter

Watched the first episode of FUBAR. It’s not very good sadly, though not terrible either as a silly comedy action series. Some of Arnie’s ’funny’ dialogue lines are properly cringeworthy, but there are some bits too. Just about 6/10 so far I guess.

I never thought I’d live to see the day Terminator being freaked out by a clit massager

I'm not really sure the idea of a comedy action series stands up at all. What are you trying to do with all that extra running time, deepen the characters? Produce complex moral plot arcs? The whole point is to just be silly and have some explosions and fight scenes. It's bound to get wearing after a few hours, surely?
