Although Karl Marx’s books are not the easiest to read, I firmly believe that my friend is going to learn a lot from the book and will hopefully want to read the next two volumes of Capital.

Has anyone else read Capital? When I read it in the 1970s it changed my life forever.

tbh if Das Kapital made you fully understand the world you probably read it wrong.

May I ask you, is English your native language? I meant that it ‘cemented’ everything for me, not that the book itself made me fully understand the world.

Jesus would have been a Bolshevik too, butchersapron if only he had been blessed enough to save humanity in a time of class consciousness. Matthew 19:24 and all that -- the precipice, but no solid understanding of industrial revolution labor dynamics

This is one of my favourite badges; it's from five leaves bookshop in Nottingham. I'd love to visit, but it's a bit far and I suspect they're a Portal To Oddness.

I won a Twitter competition with them a couple of years ago for correctly guessing a link between trump and an anarchist woman author, I think? (Tiny hands was the answer) and they sent me loads of lovely stuff :)

I've just squeaked at the piglet card - it's only going to be true for another few weeks :)

All bookshops are portals to oddness which is why they should all be valued

Spot on, Pickman's

i realised yesterday that my current local portally art shop is actually a self declared bookshop :D and a repository of zines. I laughed SO hard when that penny dropped :)

And I just realised I meant to portal into the OP's Marx thread  : - should I go copy paste the badges over there to try unwibble any matrix glitches? :hmm:

our wh Smith in town is in what I think is a former church, and feels weird and wrong on the staircase.
Independents all the way - this one is on my To Visit list, in the middle of Whitby (which had it's own weirdness vortex when I visited for a bit this year, and fell in love with the town again).
