First time for everything. Had a twenty minute wait for a transport connection so had a brief wander through the centre of Swindon. No preconceptions were harmed.

Nothing from that era is conventionally beautiful, and this is pretty run down but the design is interesting I think. External staircase, balconies wrapping around the pillars, these are choices that the designer didn’t have to make.

Does it work? Hard to say.

Is it appreciated? Perhaps not.

Is it interesting? I think so.

Planning to walk from Starcross station to Sandy Park tomorrow myself. Can’t decide whether to take the ferry across to Topsham if it’s running or walk as far as Bridge Road.
