More railways.. (model railway)

Yes, people trying to make waves on model railways tends to look awful!. The thing with military models is they are static so a fixed position for a wave doesnt matter. But a railway moves so it jars when the waves are still imo

things like this look ace!! Maybe its scale too?

Ah, the good old “Spam Cans” :D
A truly awesome loco, much maligned but wrongly. Some real cutting edge technology for the time and if you've ever seen the preserved Tangmere you'll know how powerful and beautiful they are. I love em and want more!!

A very quick video I made while checking it ran OK.. Imagine the scene, the Golden Arrow passes through Hythe and Sandgate on its way to Folkestone Harbour. I've got some white metal parts for the arrows and name plate on the front already

re: carriage orientation and general train makeup.

I highly recommend this series of books by Bob Essery:

They show just how wrong a lot of people get things on their layouts...

That's really quite astonishing. I'd be interested to know how it's made. I imagine there's a lot of potential to spend hours setting everything up, then something goes wrong pouring the resin and it's all ruined in an instant.
I expect that's half the fun of it.

I got up on my garage roof yesterday and got it sorted. Swept all the last of the moss and crap off, then painted it with Acrylpol... Some fiberous goo from wickes. Today's rain has been successfully repelled!!DSC_1260.JPG

Its been a while since i did any garage railway stuff. Mainly due to work and life committment time.

Anyway. I decided to dismantle what has done so far with a plan to start again and build it better and all that. Going to make sure it is all wired up like i want it and doesn't have problems i can't solve further down the line. Starting again..

Cool.

I was just thinking about this thread the other day and wondered how you were getting on. I've had a similar hiatus from modelling, I've just realised it's a winter thing really. My spray booth has just been brought out of hibernation.

I've played cricket all summer so come back to modeling in the winter. As well as having essays eating into spare time it has meant railway stuff has had to stall. Trying to get it up and running again. Still got lots of studying to do though so can't commit too much time!

I've got a little more done. I've fitted some really well engineered dowels so the 3 boards line up perfectly each time when they are bolted together. Then put the sides and back pieces back on and given it an undercoat. That's pretty much the carpentry done for the scenic parts. Still a long way from trains running though!
