Midnight snacks?

My grandad was a premium late night snacker. He would regularly raid downstairs cupboards, freezers and fridges for midnight pudding. My gma used to try to foil his attempts by moving and hiding anything sweet, but always unsuccessfully. He would always deny he had been for a scrounge until one day, well into his 70s she found him at 7am with his head in a bowl of melted ice cream.

I definitely have his midnight sweet treat gene, but partner zedr is much more tolerant of my late night snack runs.

I sometimes snack late at night but I keep it small and flavourful - typically a small cracker with butter, marmite and mature cheddar eaten by the light of the open fridge is enough umami to satiate me - as eating more will stop me dropping off again when I return to bed.

Walnuts, baby bells, some sweet thing; ideally a green mint type club biscuit, or a couple of squares of ginger chocolate, or a handful of peanut m/n/ms

When I was about 6 years old I had a friend who had a shoebox filled with assorted sweeties: Twix, Milky Way, Texan, Toffos, Munchies, Maltesers, Mintola, Yorkie. Possibly even the holy grail retro sweet Spangles. This to me was the ultimate in luxury. Still is. In fact I plan to look for a shoebox and fill it as my official midnight feast hamper.

Go for it, one of the few small benefits of being an adult is that if you want to fill a shoebox with sweets, you fucking can. Get in
