Middle-aged man, I want update image/clothing, where do I start?.

Hmm. According to the Mr Porter website, "There's something about tasselled loafers that says, I'm secure enough in my confidence and judgment to adorn my feet with decorations that serve no practical purpose whatsoever" but pause a moment and look at the tragic backstory of the tassled loafer

You have too much time on your hands.

Inspired by the thread I bought a new shirt - £45, Lambretta.

It looks and feels decent, haven't worn it yet though.

I like the fit of Lambretta shirts.

Was wearing a plain white today with dark blue skinny Diesel jeans, brown brogues and a dark green tweedish type jacket.

Thought I was rocking the grown up look pretty well, without going full Clarkson.

Heads up for people who liked the Private White stuff posted upthread: I was in Manchester TKMaxx today and they had a couple of pairs of their trousers too (none in my size, curses) - so I reckon it's worth a dig round your local TKMaxx too.

Sounds partial Clarkson though :( Brogues, tweed, skinny jeans* :hmm:

*not Clarkson, worse :(

Espadrilles with a the straw/ cork sole looks like a winner.

I have never worn plimsoles but don't they make your feet sweat? And that you need socks?

What? Not even at school? I thought everyone wore plimsolls for PE.

Do these classify as plimsolls? It has laces

You can get short socks that just cover your foot.

they're half a sock right? i bought about 5 pairs of those last summer and they all disappeared.

So you will definitely 'need' socks for plimsolls?
Espradrilles look more comfortable, kinda like slippers (hence with age, I don't care for appearances anymore).
