Masterchef: The Professionals

Just being a finalist seems to be a golden ticket into the big leagues so they'll all do well. I think Chiara will actually do the best. She seemed to have the aura of a top chef, although hearing Dan's backstory there you'd have to have a heart of stone not to be happy for the guy.

It must have been a painful watch for everyone concerned though with the Gregg situation. I wonder what the private conversations have been between Monica and Marcus.

She seems well happy and sorted as it is.

She seems very ambitious and organised. Can't see her sitting on her laurels.

Anyone know what they're gonna do about the amateur version, which is already recorded...? With Wallace? We're gonna go through the same debates about whether to ruin these people's big moment vs giving screen time to an utter creep.

Being a finalist guarantees you a seat on the judging panel for every subsequent series, for one thing.

That's harder, especially as the accusations keep on coming. The allegations from the ghost writer are particularly damaging, beyond inappropriate into something predatory and scary.

I think they did the right thing showing this and cancelling the chrimbo ones, which are just a bit of nonsense. My guess is that the amateur show will be shelved. Bit different starting something rather than letting something finish. Bad luck on all the contestants.

I reckon they could re-record the one for next year quite easily and replace Greg. I also think they could have cut a lot of him out from this series and filled it with more cooking but it was probably too late by then.

Pleased for Dan. He was the most consistently excellent across the series. And pleased for the other two as well. They have done themselves no harm at all reaching the final and cooking and acting as they did. Not a bad word to say about any of them.

Dan had clearly been saving up his dairy cow dish, which he must have reckoned was his best dish. Props to him for holding his nerve and not using it earlier.

Re GW, the questions regarding what the fuck the producers were thinking all these years are mounting. They can't claim ignorance.

It's more than a decade of complaints. And not just on Masterchef.

His bizarre response that it was just 'middle class women, of a certain age' will haunt him. How the fuck is that supposed to excuse him. The difference between those women and the younger ones he allegedly hassled was that they had the platform to speak out, and the funds to get lawyered up. Things do get brushed under the carpet but it's actually illegal now as I've been finding out, so that production company and actually the previous one, must be shitting it. Perhaps they paid off the 26yo one, and various others. I just got paid off for something like this and you have to think about whether you can pay the rent or not, those were the actual words of the head of HR in my case, so I signed. Those middle class women probably own their homes, so thought, fuck it.

Filth.

It would be a shame for the show to die completely but it might do.

As good a time as any for a re-structuring. New sets, new design, new format, theme tune. Maybe even Pertwee could be put out to pasture.

Jay Rayner seems an easy in-house choice for replacement and is the best of the current critic judges anyway. Pity Lionel Blair's no longer with us. Maybe give Cheryl Baker a call.

Just caught up. Delighted for Dan, whose backstory was so moving and who seemed like a very nice bloke as well as a fantastic and innovative chef. His pudding was a real gamble but it paid off!

Awaiting news on the next series and Wallace's replacement with interest. I'll tell you who I don't want - the blonde Irish woman who stood in for Monica when she was taking a sabbatical with family issues. Something about her I found annoying. She may well be a contender, though.

While we're talking about fancy chefs/cooking, has anyone else seen the 4 hour long Frederick Wiseman documentary about the three Michelin starred Troisgros family restaurants? An interesting look at how these places operate..

I'd like Grace Dent
Too busy with other things
Have they also presented a cookery show that ran for five years?
Does that matter

Anna Haugh was the replacement for Monica so she should be out.
