Masterchef: The Professionals

hmm not sure what the groveling apology has been issued for.. he got the laugh from. the football crowd and now only people who'll hire him now is GB News were he can rage against wokeness at the BBC to his heart content
I don’t think even they’ll want him.

He can go and hang out with Huw and Phil - two other creepy old fuckers who thought they were untouchable because they were ‘talent’.

A decent compromise might be to just dump the rest of the series on iPlayer and fill the broadcast time with something else.

For some reason they always put the whole week up ahead of night by night terrestrial broadcast so i don't think they've really thought this through very well

Wallace is entirely unsuitable to hold the position he's had just from being the person he is. I don't think he understands what he's done wrong at all. Very little self-awareness. I wonder why he was ever given a stint in front of the camera in the first place.

He's actually a very good presenter, objectively. Acts as a very good bridge between Marcus and Monica. The ratings are usually through the roof for Masterchef so he's doing something right.
Having watched many many episodes, I'm not sure that he is that good. Near the end when they cook for a fine dining restaurant, Marcus and Monica always look embarrassed at being sat near the gurning brash man-child.

Yeh he's clearly out of his comfort zone in a 3 star restaurant surrounded by the elite. Good in the masterchef kitchen though.

After a suitable period of humble self-reflection cooped up in his gaming room playing Civilistion 7 for months, I foresee a more modest future career for Wallace on Channel 5, judging celebrity apologies.

I agree with Petcha on this. His job is to be the bridge between viewers and pro chefs. And he does it pretty well. My basic problem in this respect is the 'talent' aspect of it. And I mean that generally about presenters. It's something of a devalued term. Yes you are a competent presenter. Here's your medal.

I'm seeing calls today from MPs to suspend the current series which is a total kick in the teeth for the contestants. But I can't see how they can keep screening it.

Westminster of course being the gold standard for an organisation where old men with power taking sexual advantage of junior staff are always swiftly and effectively held to account by their colleagues and seniors…

This is a very BBC response. I just checked iplayer to watch the next episode. they've clearly done something to the algorithm as it didn't come up in my 'continue watching' section. But it is there if you dig for it.

It would be massively unfair on the semi-finalists to cancel it now. Winning this show, and even getting to the final, can change your career.

I’ve been watching this series so didn’t want to stop. However it’s almost scripted to suit the current situation and is very distracting. This week so far:

"that's a lot to stuff into a small hole " !!

Talking to an American chef-
"cheese and pineapple on a stick I don't suppose you know what that means to us working class British people "

They're totally gonna go 'woke' for his replacement... damage control. they're gonna want someone as far from a cunty little racist sexist Millwall fan as possible. That camp guy from Glow Up with the hilarious moustache... He probably knows nothing about food but then Wallace didn't either....
Nah. TBF He got the gig off him and Charlie's veg talk...food HE KNOWS. Cooking not so much

It's a bit fucked as a show as it is..for all it does for drumming in the importance of timings...its judging meat unrested in dishes that if theyd waited that long at the pass you'd complain

Sure. And it's an unnatural situation, of course. This isn't quite right. Ok, do it again, customer will have to wait five minutes more.

That comes most to the fore when they get dumped in a three-star kitchen and just about get the hang of service by the end. Well no shit. It takes time to hone a skill, and you're going to be too slow at first. Clearly. Obviously. So would Monica and Marcus if they had to do it.

Anyhoo. Back to the show. Watching the first show of the week, messy nice bloke is out, unsurprisingly, but I'm sure I'd love his food. I don't actually care about refinement. I had almost warmed to Gareth namechecking his daughters every other sentence. He was a bit unlucky.

I always get my predictions wrong, but right now for me it's between Gaston and the shy guy whose name I can't remember. Think shy guy will get it. Chiara with the unfeasibly native-sounding accent is a dark horse. Those three for the final three.

I agree with two out of three of your predictions but think possibly William over Chiara. Like you I think shy guy, if you mean Dan, will be the winner.

Gareth was indeed unlucky. Looked like he wanted to commit murder and probably shouldn't have been in a room with a lot of sharp knives.

Messy man Michael was lucky to get as far as he did IMHO.
