Lost Prophets...

It's just this music lawyer bloke saying that he could potentially have earned 100 grand over the last year. Note how many coulds there are in it.

Quote from that piece

While a Hoobastank video – on which Watkins performed backing vocals with bandmate Jamie Oliver – garnered 2,567 views...

Does that mean someone else will be mounting a court case to clarify they're not connected?

On the wider question, this is hardly of central importance, but maybe some people will feel like they've had some form of "revenge" by publicly singing that petition. Not quite as vindictive as saying he should have his balls cut off, but equally undignifying, IMO

what qualifies a sale these days?
is it airplay, online media (youtube, search engines etc), spotify?

besides it's not him that's only earning money, lots of others in the supply chain - so i see the business milking as much as they can get. look at Amazon, they're still selling his shit.

it's irrelevant if he is earning.
it's not like he is able to spend it...the guy will die inside.

i don't get how one member could get that much royalties in such a short time
I had never heard The Lost Prophets so I had a look at a couple of their videos on YouTube - as I suspected a load of shit, but there again I hate that kind of metal/rock whatever it is.

Dunno why people as so concerned anyway, he can't spend it inside, only allowed £15 from outside sent in a week in chokey afaik.

I'm not disagreeing here, but it's the writer/s who get the lion's share of royalties, it generally isn't split equally amongst the band. Unless they're all credited equally. Check the credits to see if he was the driving creative force or not.

Non credited band members sometimes only receive a wage. So it'll be a cunt for them as this has effectively made them redundant.

I think its fair to say his life will be, deservedly, pretty fucking grim from now on. I know some other cons like to bash, or even murder, celebrity paedos to make a name for themselves, or maybe because they think its the right thing to do.

I can't imagine the screws will treat him with too much respect and kindness either.

In the earlier point about castration, or penis amputation or whatever, I've never understood why they don't have a licence condition to keep on a prescription of Bromide or the modern equivalent (they give bromide to men who have had penis operations as it totally subdues all sex drive to stop them getting the horn during recovery). There is an apocryphal (sp) story that they put it in soldiers tea during the war to stop them fucking every thing in sight whilst on shore leave (and sometimes whilst on active duty), but there is no evidence this was ever done.

i know that but still find it hard to believe he alone could earn 100k in a few months from royalties

Yes, that wasn't the bit I was disputing. It was the 'how one member' bit that I was responding to really.

ahem.
because so-called "chemical castration" has been tried in this country, the USA and elsewhere with highly variable results. It does nothing like "totally subduing all sex drive" - does for some, doesn't for others. and not having working male genitalia doesn't stop some sex offenders from reoffending.

Lostprophets have made a lot in royalties during the trial, because the music has been played a fair bit by the media when reporting the trial.

Apparently, Watkins stands to profit by something like £100,000.

Petition here asking that a way be found to bar him from receiving the money.

Just for him, or are we going to draw up a list of things which get you disqualified from royalties?

Prisons often have first night wings where those newly convicted go when they first go to prison. They are gated off from the rest of the prison, and have experienced prisoners on hand to act as 'listeners' to talk to, support and keep an eye on the newly convicted. Apparently a lot of men cry themselves to sleep as the enormity of the situation they are in hits home. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up in Monster Mansions.

They're generally called "induction units". Having said that, even induction units have one or two isolation cells.
