With the restrictions on reporting this in place until now, I had also supposed that this was just a desperate alibi for being in cahoots with Watkins and possessing the material. To go through all that, at risk to her reputation and freedom, and in so doing be exposed publicly as a former sex worker, takes some doing. Fair play.

There was still a lot of fan love right after he got put inside, there was a we support Ian Watkins facebook page. I expect that's withered by now.

As for Mjadzelics, having only read a few articles on the matter I'll accept the jury's decision on that one. There was a lot of evidence she had shopped him a lot earlier and the cops had blanked her.

Yes there was a lot of evidence at the time of his arrest and I think she was very guilty of making the police look useless. Quite a malicious prosecution.

Paedophile Ian Watkins was reported to authorities four times in the four years before he was arrested.

Despite allegations he raped a child and wanted to father another to abuse, the former rock star was not interviewed.

Eight police officers are currently under investigation by the IPCC.

The police watchdog has concerns his celebrity status delayed him being brought to justice.

Look at the Michael Jackson prats - if you look at the evidence in that case it is so clear he was guilty, but they staunchly stood by him. Huge miscarriage of justice that was.

Police inaction over Ian Watkins left child at risk of abuse, says watchdog

The inaction of South Yorkshire police officers left a child at risk of being abused for months by the former Lostprophets frontman Ian Watkins, the police watchdog has said.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission said the force had failed to take seriously complaints made about Watkins by his ex-partner between March and May 2012.

It said three South Yorkshire police officers would have faced gross misconduct cases but had since retired after 30 years’ service.

IPCC criticism followed an investigation into complaints by Joanne Mjadzelics, the former lover of Watkins, who reported him to police and social services in 2008, 2009, 2011 and 2012 about his child sex crimes. Mjadzelics, who was herself cleared of child sex abuse image offences in January 2015, alerted the police five times to allegations against Watkins between 1 March 2012 and the following three months.
