Dodgy people these accountants.

I had never heard of Seth Lakeman until I called him up re his Self Assessment, he gave me his accountant's number.

When I called the accountant, I asked if Lakeman actually had the cash to pay. It was this point I discovered that he was actually quite well known and successful.

Another rash of these scams seems to be circulating.

I've just had another washing machine warranty one (and a couple of days before that, one for the CH boiler !)

I'll play them along for a while (unless I'm expecting a call) ...
when I get bored, the instatnt cure is to ask them the make of whatever it is to which the warranty was applied.
Bosch seems to be the usual answer, but I got Zanussi the other day.
The only Bosch appliance I have is a battery drill ...

It was a recorded message. Quite obviously fake but some may fall for it

I had 2 phone calls yesterday, 2 hours apart which were recorded messages about officer so and so from HMRC etc etc. Obviously some boiler room somewhere.
