Let's talk about house plants

Sedum morganianum :) They're ridiculously easy to propagate - just snap off a leaf and stand it on a gritty potting mix with some moisture but not wet (water from below if needed).
Thanks for the info :) It's so delicate though; the slightest touch and the leaves snap off. Not the best for a primary classroom. I set Chantelle to guard it last year so it was safe; nobody messes with Chantelle. Me included tbf.

I forgot this one:

I love the ceramic pots you get to go around the necessary, but ugly plastic pots. I must do a mega charity shop raid, there must be loads of old bowls/pots I could be using. I am panicking a bit about how my prayer plant (Sandra) is gonna survive my week away. I might plonk Sandra onto a plate with an inch of water, away from the windows (the house gets loads of sunlight both sides). The others should cope ok, though I reckon outside plants will die and my spinach is gonna be ravaged. 🤬

I got 80 plant pots for £70 from a local auction (may have been 70 plant pots for £80 I just don't remember) including a three or four huuuuuuuuuuuuuuge chinese looking ones and loads of intermediate glazed and unglazed ones. Each of the huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge ones alone would have cost me £70 or £80 each from a shop.

I had to lie to a neighbour when I asked him whether he could pick up a couple of them for me  .

They've done me well for the last 7 or 8 years though :)

I love this plant and it seems pretty happy in its current location.
Is that tradescantia/ wandering jew? We've got a purple wandering jew in the bathroom. Christmas cactus, jade and african milk tree cuttings in the office/ tiny spare bedroom. A slightly languishing orchid and pointsettia in the kitchen. And, in the living room: bigger african milk trees, mother of millions, aloe vera, mother of thousands pups, a bunny ears cactus, crassula marnieriana, a prayer plant and a couple of snake plants.

I think a lot of the ones we have tend to thrive on neglect :D

It's a devil's ivy/golden pathos. I do have a lovely pink tradescantia which is currently sporting lots of tiny white flowers.

Oxalis triangularis (false shamrock or butterfly plant) and the aspidistra my Dad gave me as when I left home in 1988. I think he’d had it for about 7 years preceding that. So this plant is about 30 years old now. I repotted it last year and split some off to give to my sister and it’s been really happy since, putting up much larger leaves.

The Oxalis was given to me by a neighbour who promptly went and died of a brain tumour. I‘ve never had much success with this plant before, but it seems to be extremely happy in this spot and bears leaves and flowers all year round.

ETA

I was in a posh overpriced plant shop a while ago and nicked a little cutting from one of the pots, which I planted at the base of the Oxalis. It’s happy here, and I like the contrast of the tight green leaves and the blowsy purple foliage of the Oxalis. I don’t know the name of the smaller plant..…Anyone able to help me out with that?

Can't really see it that well and it's all blurry when I try to zoom in but maybe a peperomia? Can you post a closer picture?

Don’t think it’s a peperomia. Leaf arrangement is different.
It is more like a tradescantia Indeliblelink but much smaller leaves than any I know.

I couldn't stop myself and got a Chinese money plant from Wilkos and a cheerful pot from B&M to put it in.
Now I have a new dilemma. What do you do about your plants when you go away? I have a few shortish trips coming up, and then 1-2 months away in the Autumn.

My parents have loads of house plants. When they go away they put them in the bath and kitchen sink and part fill them (about an inch).

How long do they go away for? I haven't got a bath anymore. I don't really know many people around here so don't have anyone near I could ask. I suppose I have a few months to try to befriend my neighbours who are into gardening.

Only used to go away for 10 days or so but was still lots of water left when they got back.

If you don't have a bath you could put them in any waterproof container, washing up bowl or paddling pool. :)

Balcony plants are houseplants, right? Got a ZZ, an aloe, a bougainvillea, a baby lemon tree, and a baby banana plant. Also have some succulents and a seed-grown Tulsi which has only recently got going.

I don't know what the things in white pots are. They were in my apartment when I moved in and require very little attention.

We had some of the one in the white pots, asked wife and she says it's 绿萝 which apparently is called bunting (Epipremnum aureum).
