Keith Moon Exposed As Crap Shocker

Shut up yoss .. random irrelevent post
Unless you can play the drums

You got your bass drum and yer tom tom
Yer snare
And yer hi hat

All the rest is frills unless it's music .. whaddya reckon ?

Very true. As a general rule: the bigger the kit, the worse the drummer. Although I will allow a floor tom as well as one (not two) mounted. One crash cymbal, one ride. C'est tout.

Topper Headon: 4 drum kit.
Gene Krupa: 4 drum kit.
Keith Moon: 30 drum kit.

Nuff said.

It says that he's the non-drummer's drummer.

That's a point in his favour. Maybe a drummer's drummer might be Dave Wekl. But you can't love Dave Wekl's drumming you can only admire it. I don't want that. I want to just go mental when I listen to music. I don't want to be some sort of wine taster.

It's all a bit sad really, phil.

I don't care how good or bad you are, I'm only interested in music and it seems you were incapable of actually recording any.

Anyway, keep on boasting away about how good you think you are if that's what your little ego needs.

Little ego? Phil?

Are you taking the piss?

The bloke has an ego the size of the Isle of Wight, along with a soul the size of a Robin's egg.

Another in the Dwyre rock iconaclist series I bet, (haven't read whole thread yet.)But tell me, what' so rubbish about Moon's drumming on Who Are You? Sounded good to me. To qualify that. I love the Who anyway. The only drumming I can do is via software. But seriously, what's the problem with that track? It's not quantized, gridlocked 4 to the floor. It's a recording of a live energetic performance on a real kit and it works.

It's out of time, sluggish, ham-fisted, soulless, boring, predictable and worst of all unsexy in the extreme.

I'm no great drummer, but I was perfectly serious when I said I could do better than that. Read the YouTube comments that follow it, many of them are from drummers. Not to knock you for liking it, but it does confirm that Moon was the non-drummer's drummer.

Phil, you are dead inside, dead. The fills and trills aren't exactly locked in time but that's partly what gives Moon's playing that recogniseable energy. It adds garnish. Who wants perfectly locked and repetitious drumming in a rock song. For techno, industrial, fine but not here.

Energy? Energy? There's about as much energy in that track as in Violent Panda on xanax.

I might try see if I can get any where near that , drumming along with Session Drummer. Considerably less knackering than playing a real kit.
