This thread is generating an awful lot of reported posts and to be quite frank it's taking the piss a bit.
Since I have my mod hat on now I won't comment on the content, but if people really want to have a long, pointless argument where nobody is going to change their position, far be it from me to stop them, and I've not had any comments by others who would like to discuss the original topic and are being put off (though if there are any by all means send them in). Mods are not here to be referees though, or approve arguments (except in extreme cases which this doesn't fall under) and I doubt any other mods here would be minded to censure "robust debate" given that people are pushing it anyway, though perhaps it could be toned down a little.

Yes, you are probably correct. But i do think there are problems with that. Given that the MP for Bethnal Green is not just there as a representative for people from a Bengali background.
A constituency MP is supposed to represent all the people in the constituency not just be a representative of one section of that community.
I agree it would be good to have more women and BME mps.But that does not mean that it would be good to have an incompetent Black woman as your MP.
