But Labour has been embarrassed by anyone left of centre since the sixties. Remember Barbara Castle forwarded ‘In Place of Strife’ in 1969 to curb the power of Trade Unions. An idea brought to the fore and implemented by Thatcher a decade later. Labour, putting the boot into workers while smiling and reaping votes.
