Differently Ethical
Through the lock down, schools and nurseries have been open for the children of critical workers - many have been providing wraparound childcare and holiday childcare too, or childminders have been collecting children from school.
Now with all the new guidance for wider opening from 1st June, most schools seem to be dropping breakfast/after school care (because they wouldn't be able to keep children in the same 'bubbles') and offering shorter school days. The guidance is a bit ambiguous but says children should only attend one settings if possible, so many local authorities are banning private wraparound providers and childminders from collecting children from school.
So, with a week to go, lots of critical workers who were able to access childcare maybe from 8am-5.30pm, are now being told the school day is 9am-3pm only.
What's going to happen to all the teachers, nurses, care workers etc who have children under 12?
Has the government not thought this through?
