Anyone absolutely sick of "going for a walk?"

So once the shopping malls and massage parlors and soft play areas re-open you'll all be going for far fewer walks ?
I want to know this, i live in the middle of a place where people only come to go for walks and it has been extremely busy for a year. I've got no idea if this will continue or will people just stop again when they have other options.

In our town the only open shops are the butchers, WH Smiths and a massively over-priced, twee sweet shop that also sells coffee which allows it to be open. This sweet shop has had a queue outside it for three months solid now as the way to get the kids out is, "Let's go for a walk around town, we'll get some sweets." - bored silly of walking around town!

They'll stop. Do you see them when it's raining? No. Only the committed (mad) do that.

You'll see dog walkers, those buggers get everywhere. Howling gale in winter on top of a mountain - someone with a dog will be there, guaranteed.

The people who normally spend their weekend in the pub or on the sofa will retreat back to the pub or sofa.

It was quite obvious over the winter lockdown, there was a normal amount of people walking and cycling and running in the cold and wet (that is to say, hardly any) but as soon as the weather brightened up a bit they all came trooping out again, getting in the way.

Used to walk up to London Bridge and back to tower bridge in work lunch breaks and similar patterns, absolute howling weather and I’m alone in the rain aside from mad joggers, smallest bit of sun and out come the rest.

Positively spoiled a good summer walk :D

There’s been a ridiculous increase in the numbers of both dog owners and cyclists though, due to the virus.

Drive my kids out to the country once a fortnight or so to get away during normal times. It's good for them. That won't change.

Although only spend a few hours before they are bored rigid tbh. One of the good things about Croydon and the surrounds is that a trip out to Sussex and Surrey can be decided in ten mins and in the car soon after.

Literally sick of it. I got afraid of walking in my local park earlier this year. Everywhere but the overcrowded paths was a mudbath. Just in case I forgot that covid had changed the world, and every jogger panting into my face was a possible source of fatal infection, they built an enormous bright temporary covid testing centre in the middle of the park just to make me really uncomfortable. Haven't been for a walk since january.

they done this at streatham common too - massive tent right in the middle of where people take their daily exercise. i guess space is hard to find, but hated walking past it

I enjoy it when I go for a walk in a park or along the river with either my partner or a friend who lives quite locally.

On my own I CBA to go very far and stick to the local area. I am getting quite bored with aimless walks especially when the weather is cold and grey.

Latest walk was to see the new paint on one of the local pubs (like watching paint dry but it already had!).

That new paint is surely a good sign!! :)

Hope that local is a nice one for you, and that it's a boozer that sells decent beer ... when they're allowed to! ;) :D :)

The only thing I'm not sick of is the parakeets, who clearly don't give a fuck, and happily just live life making as much noise as they can and not giving a shit what you think.

Miss the parakeet presence. Crows, although wonderfully intelligent, don't quite make a substitute.

Does running count as walking? Is it just fast walking in silly clothes? I do more of that than begore but I wouldn't say I'm sick of it. Not yet anyway

I still like it as we're coming out of a few months of it being too fucking cold to do so - it's all we can do in these Easter hols but at least now I feel OK about going further afield - off Chiswick way today to walk along the river. Going to Chilterns tomorrow to meet my sister who lives there now for a few hours' walking.

I never go for a walk. Or a bike ride. I am out and about, whatever the weather, cos I have a demented sheepdog so twice a day,but mostly, I go to the (nearby) graveyard where I waft vaguely about while the dog hurtles about like a maniac with her doggy mates.

Met my "You can meet one person outside for a walk" buddy yesterday and he said he had to go to the Post Office. We normally go for a walk on the beach with the dogs, so this was a new departure. An actual place to go. The Post Office in the middle of town closed down earlier this year so I had to look up where another Post Office was and figure out how to walk there. Planning a route! Seeing different houses and cafes and shops and pubs! It was all such a novelty it really cheered me up.
How fucking tragic is that?!

the novelty of having anything else at all to do seems to be working here - back to pre-pandemic glorious levels of (relatively) empty parks today
