I'll back Labour if I win Scottish parliament seat, says George Galloway

I must admit the easiest way to emabarrass SP and SP Ireland members is to point to their sister organisation in Scotland and it's behaviour over the last few years.

Is he angling to do a Ken and be readmitted to the mother party?

And can someone explain to me why anyone in Glasgow should vote for a unionist who will support Labour anyway?

Sad people. You haven't appreciated the sophistication of the electoral tactics of the Socialist Party Scotland and CWI - it's all part of clever move to get their members quoted in the pages of the Guardian, without acknowledgement that they represent the SP.

There's an in depth analysis of how supporting someone who's gonna vote for an axe wielding Labour government in Scotland is in absolute harmony with the policy of denouncing the Right to Work campaign and SWP because they cannot be supported on the cuts when they put Labour politicians on their platforms and why it is necessary to set up an alternative campaign. You'll find it on page 597 of this weeks issue. There's also a detailed exposition of their electoral tactics for the scottish parliament elections on the Socialist Party Scotland website. It's even been reproduced on the CWI web site.

Galloway = dog.

I think that Galloway is more feline in character than canine. Think of the children's story of the cat that had ten dinners. Such cats go around from house to house getting stroked and fed.

Perhaps Scottish Labour is marginally better than London based New Labour because it has to be with the competition from the Scottish Socialists and even the Scottish Nationalist Party and the Scots understanding of the need for Socialism, but really Galloway will not get any plaudits from the people upon whose faces he has trodden in order to stay in the Parliamentary politics game. Also giving succour to Milibland (not a typo) should be a punishable offence.

Scottish Labour is much much more dirty than London-based New Labour. And the SSP etc are well out the game.

so what's actually happened with this, then? what is the actual story? are the facts actually as reported in that and other articles about the topic - is galloway really saying that he will support labour if he gets in? But in that case what was the point of standing in a coalition that's specifically opposing Labour cuts?

because i have to say that i find this a questionable decision to say the least, and i'd imagine lots of other people do too

The 'Coalition Against the Cuts' website contains a link to Galloway's latest article in the Labour-supporting Daily Record which criticises Alex Salmond for not appreciating the fine legacy left by Labour including that excellent socialist Jim Callaghan - yes, that's the same Jim Callaghan who during his period as Chancellor of the Exchequer oversaw the balance of payments crisis and devaluation, as Home Secretary sent the troops in to Ireland, and as Prime Minister brought in the IMF to run the country and ensure a public expenditure cuts programme that provoked even the TUC to call a mass demo ... ooops I'm getting deja vu again - but I'm sure George will do the right thing once elected.
