Hundreds of women assaulted in German NYE celebrations

Plenty of reportage of the rise of AfD (at the expense of Merkel's CDU) in the Berlin regional elections, with the far right picking up 14.1% and gaining some seats in the state parliament for the first time. But there's a less reported prospect of a 'left' coalition with the SPD/Linke& Greens together getting well over the required number of seats to govern at this level.

For those that know Berlin and its socio-economic geography, this interactive map is fascinating:-

Zweitstimmen: Grüne holen mit 37,3 Prozent bestes Wahlkreisergebnis

The ruling only concerns that case in Hamburg. A separate ruling for Cologne is expected in April, but it is likely a similar verdict will be handed down.

That article is all over the place, she is including the Cologne incidents as possibly fabricated even before the trials conclude.

As one thing leads to another, both politicians and the media have fabricated the “Cologne case” so as to “bolster the police’s statements, roll out supervision of the population, and toughen up laws on foreigners and refugees so as to be able to kick refugees out of the country more quickly,” said Dietmar Henning, a journalist with the World Socialist Website.

Ah, Henning, a world authority on such matters.

I have no doubt, 'elements' of the german state will use the event to tighten controls but citing 'journalists' from a stalinist sect is pretty poor and doesn't help their case.

Which story?
That HP article is terrible, but when they say this
The allegation had echoes of attacks in Cologne the previous year, which fuelled the anti-migrant movement in Germany after the country took in hundreds of thousands of those fleeing war and poverty amid the migration crisis.
I think the story they are referring to is one that ran this year (2017) not the stories about the 2016 incidents that provoked this thread.
