Hundreds of women assaulted in German NYE celebrations

I guess the police would have been more proactive if they thought they could prosecute, they don't have enough of a moral compass to help people after all.

For fucks sake!

This is not a question of legislation or politics (much as some idiots would want it to be so), it is a question of what is the right thing to do on a moral level and, if you take the view that this is immoral how do you mitigate it...?

This is not difficult stuff to understand.
if there is 'a right thing to do on a moral level' then it would seem perverse to say there is any question about its morality.

Pretending that the real issue is "right wing exploitation" or some kind of failure in legislation is preposterous.

And give me a couple of links in case I'm wrong but "the real issue" on the thread has not been "right wing exploitation". One of the issues has been countering the right wing pretence (seemingly from people like you) that the problem has arisen because of the left.

Whilst also pressing home the same arguments about "it's the police what done it!" and "this plays into the hands of the right wing!"

You seem to do best at sniping pal and little other else.
your assertions in the posts above are preposterous and i have neither the time nor the inclination to write a long post you would neither read, nor - from previous experience - understand. if you have any difficulty understanding my brief responses to your equally brief posts please indicate where the difficulty lies and i will do my best to illuminate.

Hypocrisy writ large

Wow

Am genuinely surprised that you guys do not get the idea of The Rule of Law or what this is really all about...

Explain, please.

As I understand it when the Rule of Law failed they changed the law so that the Rule of Law now has a better chance of putting rapists in prison. Are you saying this is a bad thing, or not relevant?

i think he is saying 'we' do not understand either the nature of 'the rule of law' nor 'what this is all about'. whatever that is.

Even when I disagree with what he's saying I've normally got an idea of what he means.

At the risk of trivialising things if you had your house burgled and the police said "ah but that's not actually against the law, sir" then my first reaction wouldn't be to fume against the moral decline in society.

tbh you would hope a lawyer would be able to express themselves coherently over the law.

I've not got a link yet but I just saw breaking news that the first person in court for a specific sexual assault charge relating to that night has just been cleared of that charge.

The difficulties of securing prosecutions for a wide range of sex crimes in general is obviously going to be a factor in this and other cases related to the night, regardless of the relative enormity of the situation.

You should cite your sources. It was at the Schlossgrabenfest, 26 women so far with, according to them, the same modus operandi of being surrounded or mobbed. 3 men arrested, 2 are asylum seekers.

TBH, for this to be a news worthy event the statistics would have to show proportionally that the majority of attacks were not perpetrated by Germans.

But anyway, don't worry, the people who made this leaflet have got everything under control. The culprits just don't understand what's wrong and what's right and a gentle chat/cartoon will put things to rights in a jiffy, no doubt. My favourite is number 8, it's totally Borrat.
