A lot of ordinary people seem to get a 40k car, albeit on tick. There are electric cars less than that now as China starts helping out. The problem was the dinosaur european and american car companies who took too long to get going on them and are still trying to recoup all their R&D costs.Electric cars are not affordable for ordinary people and they are given tons of subsidy.
So if no access to credit what do you do? And what’s 40k car on a monthly repayment? And if on tick doesn’t it then get replaced every 3 years or less?A lot of ordinary people seem to get a 40k car, albeit on tick. I think "A lot" and "Ordinary" are doing "a lot" of work here. I don't know many people who can afford a 40 grand car.A lot of ordinary people seem to get a 40k car, albeit on tick. As I said above, 80% of all car sales are used. And presumably most of those are under £40k. But to be honest, it can't get much higher than that - someone has to buy them new!I think "A lot" and "Ordinary" are doing "a lot" of work here. I don't know many people who can afford a 40 grand car.
I was talking about the new car market. Though I think after a quick look 30k is a more average price there. An MG4 (which I have driven and is a nice car to drive) is just over 30k. So prices are levelling out between ICE and electric vehicles was my point.I think "A lot" and "Ordinary" are doing "a lot" of work here. I don't know many people who can afford a 40 grand car
You have made the case there for more council housing. Can we factor in the extra 1000 quid a month I'd have to pay in rent if I moved to somewhere with decent public transport?
Makes owning a car very cheap.
Would it still have cost you 35p per mile if you’d done half or twice as many miles? If not then you’re not answering the question that teuchter is askingMy driving over the last 12 months cost me £0.35 per mile.
Car actual purchase, not included.
I must have misunderstood the question then ..Would it still have cost you 35p per mile if you’d done half or twice as many miles? If not then you’re not answering the question that teuchter is asking

OK, and checking back to the OP.I must have misunderstood the question then ..
OK, and checking back to the OP.
My marginal cost, related to mileage only is £0.20 per mile. This figure is almost all made up of petrol and miles per gallon that my vehicle can achieve but also includes replacement tyres which are also related to mileage.
ETA I might need to check my actual mileage in the period concerned.
