Help me show my daughter that girls rock just as well as boys

Girls can rock, I played for some years in a rock/heavy metal band, playing bass and doing vocals, also the lead guitarist was female (we as a band didn't care what gender people were, so it was never a 'thing' that the band was half female, that was just how it was, you want people who can play well and can turn up for gigs and enjoy playing, not based on having a particular set of genitalia - it doesn't need to be a 'girl' band, or a 'boy' band, you can just be a group of people of whatever gender who like to play music together). We never got famous or anything, but we had a bit of a local following and earned money doing gigs.

Rebel Girl for sure. Number one. Just play her that - it's all in that one song.

Then:

Sleater-Kinney

Le Tigre

I would have chosen Decaptacon, but it's got a swear word right in the middle, so not really ideal.

Huggy Bear

Elastica

Often not considered as being really rockin', but Stutter was full on fantastic:

All of this was my immediate thought when I saw this, but also:

(Edit: Missed that when I scanned the thread. But so good it's worth putting in twice. <3 Kathleen Hannah.)

and latterly, Chvrches (which isn't 'rock', but does kinda rock, and Lauren's amazing all round)

and Joan Armatrading.

I know you don't need me to say this, Bees, but she deserves a mention on the thread: Bjork.
