Helicopter crashes into glasgow pub

Thats pretty much all of the police & air ambulance copters out of action for now then. Not the first time this has happened, think they were all grounded for a time in 2012.

They were, due a crack defect being found in one.

16 of 36 air ambulances grounded, the rest can cover for each other:

Fucks not given about police helicopters.

Ta for the info, didn't realise there were many air ambulances of a different type in the UK.

Also the BBC sen to have updated the story with info that the police hadn't grounded any of their craft either. And I think I've since heard that the air ambulances are back in action as well.

IMO, as the AAIB have only produced an interim report, with several of the major / obvious possible causes currently ruled out, there is a distinct chance that the crash was the result of several minor failures interacting.

I think this is likely - like a 'perfect storm' of minor faults creating a fatal error.

I have heard one helicopter go overhead today, on it's way to the heliport. So some are flying here.

Reports that minimum fuel levels will be increased, implying that the 'indicator' problem is to do with fuel levels.
Ch Supt Ian Whitehouse, chief operating officer of the National Police Air Service, said it had no plans to ground aircraft.
He added: "In light of the technical issue identified by Bond Air Services, as a precautionary measure, we are increasing fuel levels on all NPAS EC 135 aircraft and increasing the minimum level of fuel which pilots are allowed to operate on."

RIP for all those killed in this. Remembering all those affected (and still being affected) by this crash.

Report on crash to be issued in January according to AAIB.
