Have you come across Shazam? Incredible...

Just installed something called MRA Music Recognition Application from the Windows store (its free)
- great results so far , really impressed, finding obscure dance stuff
doesn't need the mic, it can hear whats playing on the desktop internally

I was trying to Shazam some stuff at the club last night and it failed at all but one track. It was old school 80s acid rave stuff (I’ve lost track of all the different genre breakdowns so I can’t say more than that).

I’ll have to check if this MRA thing is available as an app for my phone.

Theres another one called Flair Max ive installed too thats meant to be good but not used it yet as MRA is going so strong
Shazam has been inshitified it seems

Google Pixel phones can recognise songs automatically without any need to connect to the internet!
just read up about this! pretty amazing - downloads a database of around 11,000 tune waveforms to your phone - takes up 500mb or there about - updates once a week! Dont think its going to get obscure releases but pretty impressive

just read you can get it on any android if you really want

the mic is always listening though

The now playing feature samples music and compares it to a file already downloaded on your phone, so there's no uploading of your data (unless you specifically ask it to find a song).

Besides, we're already all being watched, listened to, tracked and monitored so it's a battle I've pretty much given up on.

That said, it's a fucking great feature to have if you end up in a new bar on a big night and then being able to see all the songs that were playing.
