Received today from Edinburgh a box of covid tests courtesy of the NHS.Slightly nonplussed as i am fully vaccinated have not heard of anyone locally getting Covid and hence stopped worrying about this many months ago.Never had Covid afaik.

I'm fully vaxxed and still not had it to my knowledge. I'm working from home/not taking public transport v often but I have been going to the cinema/restaurants etc. 🤷‍♀️

Triple with boosters. Tested positive three days ago. Feeling dog rough. Nausea.
Very sore throat, coughing till my rib cage aches. Sleeping only now and then. sneezing like a goodun. i'm an at risk category. How would it have been without the vaccine? Hope i get better rapido!

Hope you're better soon.

Just tested positive, last time I had it was December 2021. So I guess it really is still out there....😒
Well, yeah. Nobody sensible would claim otherwise. Hope you're not too bad wi' it.

At a rough guess, this college year there's been students in my dept (cohort of around 200) off with it at a rate of perhaps one case every three weeks.

After feeling progressively shit for quite a few days, I finally had a slightly runny nose and I just sneezed 4 times...
No idea what it is yet. I had flu and covid vaccines in October and I still mask and stay away from people.
And given my lifestyle for over 3 years how I caught ANYTHING ... I think I can eliminate rat-borne diseases ..

The symptoms are minor - apart from being wiped out physically as I always was with the repeated flu infections when I worked. ... no fever... perhaps stinky breath ...
Stiff achy neck ...at the moment I can taste my food.
Worrying blood pressure hike but that may be a faulty BP meter and the surgery's one had flat batteries ...

I have a GP appointment on Friday to eliminate kidneys and other physiological issues... and I don't know what to do about that as I have never needed Covid tests and I REALLY want reassurance ...

have you done a covid test? swab your throat as well.

I think theres various colds and flus going around. I have picked up a sore throat from just 2 trips into town.

Apparently I can get a test for under £2 at the local pharmacy.
But morally I cannot go there when I've just sneezed - even scrubbed and masked.
I suppose I'd better cancel Friday's GP appointment so it isn't wasted.

My lifestyle is very open air, and not crowded with people here on the coast. So I tend to think more about it if I'm flying, or spending time in cities.

I last had covid mildly in June 22 ( delivered by a colleague from Darwin) and then had a 3rd vax in Aug before I went to Brisbane, I flew to Brisbane again in Nov, and I flew to Perth for a week in December.. all without catching it. Yay.

Because I was going to an international conference for a week, by plane and in a big city, I had vaccination number 4 and a flu jab a couple of weeks ago. It was a week before I flew to Melbourne, but obviously I hadn't given it long enough to work and now here I am with what feels like a particularly nasty covid.

To begin with, I was actually quite disappointed in myself, and thought I was just aching because I'd not been able to keep up with the younger colleagues I went with. But then we realised that we'd all brought it back.

So yeah, off work laid up on the couch this week feeling like I'm 100. But at least I should have amazing immunity for the coming winter :)

Contacted surgery.

Having eliminated kidney infection, kidney damage testing can wait till next week... and I can't even be certain about the BP.
I'm 23 kilos lighter than when the flu kept me off work for over a month at 59 so hopefully this won't be a repeat of that...

This has felt like those ST TNG episodes where characters are amazed at simple respiratory infections...

I was probably safer when the supermarket gel dispensers actually had gel in them which I slapped on generously to deal with basket handles.

I have GP appointment on Friday as physically wiped out plus dull headache and stiff achy neck ... apparent elevated BP - though my meter may be faulty
The one at the surgery had flat batteries on Monday (I was masked)

Now I have snotty nose and sneezed 4 times.

I have no covid tests because retired, vaccinated, live alone and mask in supermarket - but now careless with hand-nose hygiene.
Over 3 years since last respiratory infection.
No fever, taste and smell OK

Not sure what to do...

Sorry you are poorly gentlegreen. GWS pal. i recently finished a nasty bout of covid, about three weeks it lasted, coughing sneezing bad sore throat breathlessness to the point of anxiety. Bedded me for a couple of days the fucker. aching joints (neck as well), rib cage especially sore. tested positive for about 10 consecutive days. Clear now, but still very fatigued. i've prostate and bone cancer, so in an at risk category, also i'm 72 this year, so a spring chicken i aint. The cancer of course isn't quite so dramatic at my age as it would have been if i was 20, but it does add complications. The fucking drugs for the big C are exhausting also, so unpicking covid from other factors isnt easy, or probably even possible. Try not to panic my friend, get plenty fluids down with paracetamols/ibuprofen (if you can tolerate it) and sleep sleep sleep. my sense of smell and taste are only now recovering.. its a blinking nasty nasty disease, but if you have it, my guess is that you can lick it! Hug.

Almost everybody I know has had a cold recently, but since almost a year before Covid hit, when I picked up summat really horrible, I've only had a minor sniffle in October 2020, when Mrs RD had to restrain me from going for a drive-in Covid test (no home testing kits at the time iirc), and finally Covid itself last June, which hit me lightly. We've taken almost no Covid precautions for over a year, Both of us working, as with most people we socialise with, although we rarely go to really crowded places for long. But last week I had a funeral and crowded wake, and a couple of days later, a birthday party in a busy public venue, with people at both shouting directly into my gob, and have had a cold and sore throat this week. A reminder of how I used to pick up way more viruses when we never thought about taking any precautions no matter what the situation: trains, planes, coaches, pubs, football grounds etc etc. This is an aspect of the 'after-Covid' world that the big brains were talking about. Having become used to almost never catching anything, I've actually felt personally affronted by this weeks snottiness and cacky throat.

Scrub all the above.
I now reckon it's sinusitis ..
I wish I understood how it could cause so much fatigue with such light symptoms - last night I had the weirdest dreams with no measurable fever)
(last obvious flare-up was in 2020 with labyrinthitis and quite a few years previously I was plagued with agoning headaches)

Hate to be bearer of bad news but I tested positive for Covid 2.5 weeks ago and I thought I'd got away fairly lightly after a few days when I felt much better but since I've had an absolutely horrific bout of sinusitis that has lasted for over a week and is only just on the way out. I haven't had it for about 20 years so the fact I've got it so soon after testing positive for Covid makes me think it's related.

Just buy some on Amazon prime. Do you not have any tests from before?

Surely it cant be this complicated.

Best to test asap IMO especially given your health anxiety. Best to rule it out.

I wasted a PCR on sinusitis in 2021 and cancelled an appointment...
I have lived like a monk since October 2020 so have never needed to test.

In the absence of significant respiratory tract activity I'm calling this bacterial.
Having sat up and had breakfast, first the weird head thing and now almost noticeable nose-running.
Thankfully a couple of hours after getting up, the light headache has dissipated...

OK the surgery texted me back to ask I do a test so I went to the chemist and I'm now waiting 30 mins for it to develop...

Control line has indicated...

If I managed to catch it at this stage I'll offer myself to science ...

Maybe I will keep the test as a souvenir ...

You always have some justification for making things unneccessarily complicated. Fine your life.

But this thread is for people who have tested positive for covid or likely have it not just speculating about various other stuff. Maybe a better thread?

edit just seen your latest update.

sorry - missed / forgot about the lurgy thread.
Test is clear after 20 mins as expected.
As you were ...

Good to hear and hope you get better soon I dont mean to be harsh! I have also picked up the sore throat sinus cold going round just by going in a few shops.

Some more sunshine and being outdoors when you get to France will be very healing.

Got it for the first time (that I know of) 2 weeks ago. Only realised because I had to take a test before going to a hospital. Had been away on the piss over the previous weekend and just thought I was tired from that. Otherwise no other symptoms.

I’ve never been careful but I suppose I picked it up while away over that weekend.

I've just tested positive for Covid today.

Came down with a fever on Wednesday night and spent 2 days mostly in bed with fever, very rough throat, nasal drip and horrible lightheadedness that I remember from having Covid last year. Thank god it didn't affect my breathing (my main worry as a lifelong severe asthmatic) and I didn't have the terrible backache that I had last year with it.

Ordered some LFT tests from Amazon yesterday evening which just arrived today.
