How did it sound acoustically?
I used to work ( as an usher) at Festival Hall and my experience of amplified music in concert halls is avoid at all costs.
Not too bad, but my hall has got a lot of adjustments I can make to the acoustics - various high frequency baffles and absorber panels that can be moved, a ceiling canopy that can be raised and lowered, two reverberation chambers that be be open/semi open/closed, and even the rear wall of the stage can be moved forwards to close the space down further. Means we can adjust the RT60 of the room by nearly 3 seconds to suit whatever performance is taking place in there :)

This was Negusa Negast who was mostly playing bashment

Did you bring the speakers?
Yeah i thought 6x 18 subs on each side should do it.
Great. How about the mids?

interesting design, rear facing subs...

it was sounding a bit off to start with tbh, was rumbling and missing a bit in the middle

i dont know much about cabinet design but that doesnt look like it should work - the cone facing into a closed box?

Subs are basically omnidirectional, because physics.

Until you start doing things like the stack I posted a pic of earlier - note the bottom cabinet is reversed. Combine that with its signal being delayed slightly and also with inverted polarity, at which point you create a cardioid pattern for the stack…

While we're on the topic of PA speakers, please can I ask you guys in the business for your opinion of Void? I only ask because I know someone who recently started working for the company and she asks what I think of them cos she knows I go to gigs/festivals. I've never even noticed them anywhere so I've no idea 😶.

They’re easily one of the most unique/impressive looking PA systems out there, and the ones I’ve heard in various club installations have been pretty good.

don't think so, didn't know there was one on tomorrow, give you a shout if go to another one tho!

They were/ are my favourite pro audio PA. RC1 are my new favourite for pure sub bass pressure. F1 can equal void, in the right hands, but overall void is better imo.

Thanks, I'll pass that on too. I'm surprised (with myself) that I've never noticed Void anywhere, are they fairly new?

ETA: 2002. In fact they were installed at Matter the one time I went there:facepalm: Note to self - pay more attention.

Didn't know Bish was back with a sound system ! Heard on the rumour mill he was interested in Danley stuff, looks like he's bought a load ( or borrowed ?)

Jerry Garcia's system for his band the Grateful Dead in the 70's

FB_IMG_1685301912137.jpg

Elsewhere in the 60s and 70s, the most notable rock bands were forming. Live sound wasn’t exactly the kind of quality we have today. This caused a sound jumble that was not appreciated by bands anywhere, and one decided to take action.

Seen here, Jerry Garcia and his headlining band didn’t want you to just hear rock, they wanted you to feel it, too. Thus, the “Wall of Sound” was born. In total, the system was over three stories tall, 100 feet wide, and weighed in at 70 tons. Hundreds of separate equipment pieces, such as speakers and amps, were part of this monument to rock.

Bet it can do this...
I was at that rave
