Hardcore Speaker Porn

^^^interesting

adds compression though :(

mentions this as better

nonurbanite got

I bought one of these a few months ago to stream music from my phone to hi-fi. Very simple to set up & use and it does the job. Only downside is the output is rather low so I have to turn the amp volume control up a lot more than for any other source.

This is what I have as the centre for all my audio streaming.

£400 is a chelsea price i think
nice things though, a pair of 12s in there + tweeters

i wonder if anyone can help me find something, i just cant seem to find a single example of such a thing

- a soundbar (or at least very wide and not very tall)
-max width 70cm (as close to that as possible)
-stereo
-passive - can be run off an amp with speaker cables
-doesnt need any other features or inputs, just be a speaker with speaker cables
-ideally wood finish, not essential
-not cost a lot of money! why are passive soundbars so expensive? crazy prices

the more it can look like this kind of thing the better, but that would be a bonus

there seem to be a lot of DIY project ones but i cant seem to find a mass produced one

Just came across an article about this beautiful system. Hope he has good taste in music. Unfortunately I can't make out the details on the album he's holding.

Looking at it I just can't believe that sounds very good plus the fact it takes up half the room. He could have stuck some table top Genelec's on there and then have room for a hefty record collection below.

anyone familiar with the wharfdale e series? was talking with someone yesterday who is in love with them...anyone heard one?

Gonna resurrect this thread ( again) , forgot we did something a bit different back in June here in Melbourne...

10 sounds in one room, all playing different sets over a whole afternoon / eve inside the wonderful Forum Theatre.... Heavy Congress 22.... a great celebration of soundsystem culture...

Really? Only heard it I think 3 times, but each time the very high frequencies have just sounded like they're missing.

Ours aren't " Danleys" but our own design Unity horn ... uses a 1.4" compression driver and that goes to 16khz .... never had anyone say the tops were lacking ! Sure it's not your hearing ??? 😉

fair play, if they're your design then i've obviously not heard them.
i do stand by my opinion that the Danleys sound like wardrobes stuffed with socks though.

Hadnt heard of them before....they claim to have built the worlds biggest subwoofer - for "military use" ! I guess to simulate a bomb blast?
No examples of it really blasting though, looks like a gimic
a cargo container with 40 cones in it (18s? maybe 21s)

He used to work at Intersonics designing vibration tests for Space Shuttle loads.... the Matterhorn ain't a gimic, more a proof of concept that you can make tapped horns that big ! ... Wiki ... Danley invented many devices while at Intersonics, obtaining 17 patents. The inventions include a high-powered acoustic levitator, a sonic-boom generator used by BBN Technologies, and a multi-enclosure Flow Modulator loudspeaker system used by Georgia Tech Research Institute and NASA for vibration tests on rocket payloads.[1] Danley designed and built major components of the payload on Space Shuttle flights STS-7 in 1983 and STS-51-A in 1984

heya gang just sharing our bits here. this was a mono stack for the room we were in but we tend to run it in stereo with twice the mid tops. various subs, custom built kicks, orbit 4s on top. labgruppen and chinese amps, we were running qsc dsps but have recently picked up some symetrix so looking forward to getting my head round a whole new set of software. a bunch of other custom bits incoming, very exciting things in development! we do all sorts, hire out for loads of different stuff but our residents play dnb, hardcore, tekno and bassline normally - gobshite music for nice people x

They use danleys at Balter and I’ve never noticed a lack of top end. I’ve actually been really impressed with the danleys there, and yes I know funktion 1 owners only ever talk about funktion 1’s but I do really rate the danleys at Balter
