Hannibal Season 3

Episode two was a big improvement. The dialogue is still ridiculously overblown but they managed to fit in some interesting ideas and some genuinely emotional moments.

the whispering to each other and then the ridiculously loud discordant incidental music does my head in. not to mention most of the budget spent on slow-mo footage

Episode 2. The catacombs of Hannibal's mind.

Will gets a valentine from Hannibal.

"Elegance is more important than suffering."

A gruff Italian character is introduced...and the second you see him you think "Dead man."

Turns out he met our gastronome before, Hannibal plays games over decades...or farms his food that way sometimes.

Netflix or Amazon will pick it up
Hopefully Netflix, I've cancelled Amazon. Obviously I'd have to get it back if they picked this up.

Anyway...you can't really get a lot of seasons out of an idea like this. I'll be happy if this one is done well.

Not really bothered which one - Amazon seemed a bit shit from the free trial and Netflix's movie selection is poor so I cancelled it. Thank jesus for the bay of pirates and Popcorn Time...

It's not for everyone. It's dark and violent, verbose and unspoken at the same time. It's also incredibly visual and discordant.

I think they're overdoing the religious imagery in the first two episodes but meh, it looks gorgeous. I'm not letting my atheism get in the way of enjoying it.

If you don't enjoy something you shouldn't watch it.

Episode 3. The story develops.

The first half looked like a Dracula film...fog-entwined forest, gothic castle and candles.

Will's 'angel'...his reply to Hannibal's valentine heart last week?

That stab in the head was shockingly brilliant. The rest was a bit... oh i don't know, i get the feeling you are supposed to over analyse, de-construct the tableaux of shocking art and slow motion montages and find meaning therein. my attention span doesn't last long enough.

This episode was a lot better than the last.

The networks are all saying they won't pick this up...hopefully because there's a proper resolution to this art and not because it descends into nonsense.

Italy seems to be the perfect place for religious allegory and the photography...honestly there's nothing better on tv (the only thing I've seen that's like it is probably In Bruges). Is there a masonic thing going on there with Pazzi's death?

Episode 5 was directed by the cinematographer of Pan's Labyrinth, apparently.

The visuals are top-class...the story so far is not as good as previous seasons.

Episode six. Dolce.

Things getting on track again...stuff happening.

Watching this one leaves no doubt that there's nothing on tv like Hannibal. It will be a terrible loss.

Episode seven. Digestivo.

I've jumped before at Hannibal, and cringed and my jaw has dropped. But the surrogate. Talk about daring. I felt a bit sick. The fish supper scene was a bit ridiculous but also satisfying...like a baddy in a Bond film getting his just desserts. Sure to bring nightmares to many.

Lot's of stuff here all over. The relationship between Hannibal and Will is being being broken by Will, Hannibal takes a leap.

Wonderful stuff.

Beautiful show - if a show can be called beautiful - a tiny bit wind baggy at times but a real feast for the eyes most of the time. A good ending I thought which kind of left it open if any network decides to bring it back.
