I think this needs a dedicated thread.

I'll put a link to this in a couple of the other Tory threads to make it easier to avoid too much duplicate discussion.

Any thoughts on what's most/least likely to happen be seen in Hammond's statement tomorrow/Wednesday 22nd? :hmm:

They’ll make the rich richer and the poor poorer?

True, but I was hoping for a bit more detail about all that to be honest :D

Guesses/predictions welcomed .... ;)

And maybe some running commentary once the thing goes live ... I'll be at work so I could be looking forward, or not, to catching up later tomorrow with Urban take on Hammond's plans ...

:( :hmm:

My predictions based on my complete lack of any inside knowledge

Police, Firemen, Nurses etc will be allowed payrises of over 1% (but not huge sums)

All other government workers will be stuck with a 1% pay cap

Benefits will remain frozen (if they had won by a big majority in June I think the cap would have been lowered but probably not now)

There will be some more money found from somewhere for the NHS, £350m a week if Hammond has a sense of humour (but he probably doesn't)

Booze and fags will go up but fuel duty will remain frozen

More money for and an extension of Help To Buy

Personal Allowances and Tax Thresholds will go up by more than usual.

Since my long-term job came to an end recently I suppose I will watch the bloody thing on the off chance that it helps me work out what to do (or not to do) next.

Not sure if I will do running commentary on it due to the chances I will slip into a semi-catatonic state whilst watching it.

Oh god they've made a joke about cough sweets, with May producing a packet of them. And now a joke about long economicky words.

Extra 1% duty on rolling tobacco in addition to the other increases across all tobacco products.

Fuel duty frozen again, under-30's railcard stuff that was already mentioned the other day confirmed.

“£600 premium for maths students in A levels’.. is that a commission for their teachers or a bride for students ?
