some of my students brought their children into uni today because of the strike - it was an unexpectedly nice 'bring your child to uni' day

I remember doing 3 O-levels in one day (English Language, Physics and Engineering Science) finishing at about 8pm. The teachers would be in The Hague if they did that now.

My students very often do 3 GCSE exams in one day during the season. In fact last year some had 4 and we had to get them to stay after school (not till 8pm though).

Pick up a few Polish guys in a van every morning and bung 'em a tenner cash in hand to teach A-Level physics. Sorted.

I always support strikes, but I especially wanted to support this one when I actually read the 'Why I have no choice but to strike' page on the NUT site ('strike stories').

I'm not a parent and have virtually no involvement with schools or school policy, but it seems simple enough to me that Gove and arseholes like Toby Young are wrong and the teachers/teachers unions right.

Respect to Sweet FA as a parent for showing solidarity ...
