1 STANDARDS AND PRIVILEGES [Until 10.00 p.m.]

Ms Harriet Harman

That this House—

(i) approves the Sixth Report of the Committee on Standards and Privileges (House of Commons Paper No. 909); and

(ii) accordingly suspends Mr George Galloway, Member for Bethnal Green and Bow, from the service of the House from Monday 8th October for a period of eighteen sitting days; and in calculating that period paragraph (3) of Standing Order No. 12 (House not to sit on certain Fridays) shall not apply.

Debate may continue until 10.00 p.m.

George Galloway has been promising the mother of all parliamentary debates at 3.30 today when he challenges his expulsion.

Whatever your opinion on GG it probably will be quite entertaining.

Watch it live:

Yes, should be fun to see the G-Man defend* his own ego against the "murderous pig-swine of the totalitarian war machine death house". The old fucker's never there anyway.

Oh hum. A lying charlatan trying to win an intellectual battle with a bunch other lying charlatans. Can't be bothered getting het up about it.

Any Idea what time this debate starts? I've been listening in and although the discussion on flooding is very important the way the brown nosers are asking questions and making points is so boring and unnecessary.

According to the Parliament website, GG is the main business of the session, but it looks like now the flooding is over, you will have a report on housing, somethinh on "intergovernmental conference " then presumably Galloway

I think you'll find that for quite a few people the flooding isn't over...indeed the worse may be yet to come.

It's going to be a very long speech, GG has warned. After half an hour of listening to GG, I feel like taking a break.

Perhaps someone more enthusiastic than me will be kind enough to post a summary later.

Absolute scum bags, they've just thrown him out of Parliament, basically because they didn't like what he was saying......

So now they're free to say what they like and then vote to throw him out.

How can those fuckers can stand there, while they take lavish back handers from anyone from Murdoch to arms firms, and say they're "protecting the interests of the house".......what a joke......

George Younger is presently slating Georges ex wife earlier George was stopped by the speaker from having a go at those not there to defend themselves.

Spot on mate!. Just like watching Romans throw christians to the lions. He hadn't got a chance in hell and as for the Speaker Martin...What a cunt! " I am here to defend the honourable member"
Oh, and will somebody bop that cunt from Blaby for me!!

Hope its on youtube!!

Kevin Barron has just suggestedthat someone other than this house may want to look at criminal proceedings in this case.
Considering the Government lied to Parliament over Iraq it stinks

I'm not normally one to support Class War's antics, but I do hope that their list of targets is extended to include Mr. Speaker - fucking dog.

I come back and find they've moved onto some proposal to help stop forced marriages. It's a pity GG isn't there to denounce it as Islamophobblewobble.

For fucks sake JHE, can't you leave your muslim bashing out of stuff for once? This is a total fit up by the establishment, regardless of your views of Galloway.

Och, it was a wee bit more serious than that. Like all MPs he is required to declare financial interests. The Inquiry found that he connived to conceal that his Mariam appeal - which raised £1.4m but only spent £100,000 on Mariam herself - was funded with Oil for Food money. He broke the rules of the House and he's being punished. With a holiday.

He's not the Messiah, he's just a very naughty demagogue.

I haven't got much time for Galloway. But this is a total fit up. And compared to what the other scum bags in there get up to, it's nothing.

The Mariam Appeal wasn't all about Mariam - and it's not for the charity to know whether or not Saddam is paying in Oil for Food money or not.

Some credit card scammers stole £2.50 of my money and gave it to Water Aid. Are Water Aid responsible for it? I wouldn't have thought so.

I know everyone knows it anyway, but stuff like this really shows up MPs for the bunch of self-serving, sickening, hypocrtical bunch of scum that they are.

Out of interest anyone know what John McDonnell said about all this and if he was in the chamber to support Galloway?

no one spoke up in support of Galloway in the chamber - the only one who seemed vaguely sympathetic was Simon Hughes (one of whoms points was that the commission had invoked a lower standard of proof than normally required in such matters - one would almost have thought they were trying to fit him up!)! It's not clear from how the report is written up, but it looks like it went thru on the nod, no vote required.

Agreed, this has a similar whiff to it that reminds me of the Telegraph story.

I used to have time for Galloway but as time has gone on I've seen him for the self serving pocket lining shit that he is.

I'm well aware of your loathing of Galloway but this still stinks to high heaven.

they used half the same evidence!

KBJ seems to be saying that as GG is a shit, it doesn't matter if he gets railroaded tho, even if it is by a bunch of even bigger hypocrites & criminals

Yeah, I agree; Galloway really is a cnut of the first order imo but this stinks.

Its been open season on him for ages now, anyone remember Paxmans disgraceful 'interview' with Galloway on election night?
