Hunt for missing F-35 jet after pilot ejects but warplane keeps flying
THE US military is desperately searching for a F-35 fighter jet after a “mishap” caused its pilot to eject but the warplane continued flying. The “ghost” F-35 went missing o…www.the-sun.com
So just four days after their loved ones had died, four days after they had narrowly escaped death themselves, Liverpool supporters were confronted with those headlines. People actually believed those headlines. Those who were there did not believe the headlines of course, nor did those who knew people who had been there. Unfortunately though a lot of people did believe those headlines; people who were not Liverpool supporters, perhaps supporters of another team or people who did not follow football at all. The headlines sewed seeds in so many people’s minds that the 96 supporters died at the hands of their own kind. All lies, all proven to be lies, yet never put right by that publication.“The Truth.

I do remember being advised of that before. Please accept my apologies. I'm in the US and don't follow UK news sourcing closely. I'll do better in the future...Well that's pretty careless. I'm sure the otehr branches of the military will be very understanding and not take the piss at all.
By the way bcuster, it is (mostly) traditional on these boards that we don't link to The Sun, it is considered a non paper for various reasons but mostly the following. As an American I wouldn't necessarily expect you to know that so just passing on the info.
Don’t Buy The Sun
A surprising number of people seem unaware of the boycott of The Sun by supporters of Liverpool Football Club. Some don’t seem to know it is boycotted, others don’t know why. Some peopl…www.anfieldroad.com

I heard this on the radio over morning coffee. what a way to start the day. and it led me to ask for the nth time: why are there air shows? there are only two outcomes: 1, it worked; 2, death. if 1, well it's supposed to. if 2, I'd rather not voluntarily watch a life spectacularly snuffed out.
Some stuff has an inherent danger that people will accept to an extent, though I think we’re becoming more risk averse. When I was younger they used to do powerboat racing in Bristol Docks, supposedly the most dangerous course in the world at the time due to the tightness of the circuit. It seemed fairly normal for people to die every so often doing it, like it was an accepted risk. They removed a jetty that was the cause of several crashes in the end, before giving up the whole thing. It just seems mental in retrospect.I heard this on the radio over morning coffee. what a way to start the day. and it led me to ask for the nth time: why are there air shows? there are only two outcomes: 1, it worked; 2, death. if 1, well it's supposed to. if 2, I'd rather not voluntarily watch a life spectacularly snuffed out.
my guess: costI’m guessing the F-35 A variant must be significantly more capable than the B? Otherwise why not simply go for the B variant with its STOVL capability, which would have come handy for landing on icy runways?
