I've seen this posted a couple of times of twitter, i'm certain this quote is bullshit, but its a sinister proposition none-the-less

What's your opinion?

Yeah still not buying that. You need to say why other than 'it's a threat.' It'll make Israel think twice about invading Iran, which they threaten to do, but I really can't see it being enough to push Israel to make peace with the Palestinians.

It's not only the threat exerted by Iran having nukes pointed at the state of Israel. You need to look at it in geo-strategic terms. Israel pointing weapons outward at the Arab nations is accepted in terms of realpolitik by "the west" as a good thing - leverage on the oil-producers. Iran having missiles pointed at Israel alters the position. It effectively means that "the west" have to now consider the possibility of a nuclear confrontation between loonbag Zionists and some Twelvers who want to speed the return of the Mahdi - in other words, the focus goes from being on letting Israel do as it pleases, to maintaining a situation that doesn't provide excuses for nuclear aggression.

and on the subject of iran acquiring nuclear technology...well lets just say the life insurance policy for a HEP scientist in tehran is not going to happen.

How did such a large Jewish population in South Africa arise? Did they disproportionately emigrate to South Africa from Holland back in the day?

There are at least two tribes in Southern Africa who claim to be shipwrecked Jews from way before the Dutch East India company arrived. Historically the Apartheid state had very close links to Israel. And Linksfield is in the heart of the Jo'burg Jewish community - Jo'burg has probably the largest Jewish population in South Africa.

There are around 67,000 Jews in South Africa - about 0.5% of the world Jewish population, and SA has the 12th largest number of Jews in the world. Wikipedia claims that they all came to Jo'burg during the Gold Rush, because they love gold, those covetous Jews. :hmm:

Wikipedia could be doing an anti-semitism, but might not be because to be honest pretty much nobody lived in what is now the largest city in South Africa before the Gold Rush.

what if that rocket came through your window?, this disregard of the fear these people must have, doesn't help

The "rockets" are mortars. They are aimed using trigonometry. They are fired on a sharply-upward trajectory, which means they come to their target on a sharply-downward trajectory. Invariably, if they hit buildings at all, they hit roofs. The likelihood of one "coming through the window" is so minimal as to be laughable. Most of them don't even have the payload to blow through the roof and the ceiling (which is usually steel-reinforced concrete).
The Israelis have as much to fear from these "rocket" attacks, as Londoners had to fear during PIRA bombing campaigns in the capital - i.e. statistically nothing to fear.

That its abhorrant, the false quote, the sentiment behind it, but I was disgusted that people would post that up in support of Palestine, I obviously garbled my message, but it was posted entirely in revulsion about the whole thing, and a comment about how misguided some of the anti-Israel support can be...

It's great to live in a country where the material violence is largley structural but if it came to open conflict against an armed invader then yes, lying down in front of a tank will get you killed- I've always thought pacifism is brave, noble, and futile.

I call bullshit on that reply.

Much the same reason as European and US Jewish populations grew at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries - Pogroms by the Russian empire causing Jews to flee, in many cases westward, in some cases to South Africa, where Ashkenazim would later be classed as "white", and where Afrikaaner anti-Semitism was mild compared to anti-Semitism in some parts of western Europe.

Were Mizrahi classified as white too?

Is this not because the Israelis have an extremely effective defence mechanism in the iron dome?
2874 rockets fired into Israel in July.
Without the "iron dome" would these rockets have been "statistically nothing to fear"?

BTW If the PIRA had launched 2874 rockets at the centre of London from 30miles away I think that there would certainly have been damage and loss of life......

Bullshit, isn't it? :)
It's not as if Hitler didn't make his plans for the entire Jewish "race" absolutely clear in Mein Kampf - no Jews were to be left alive, not even in order to provide convenient examples of their own supposed perfidy.

Bit like the Hamas charter then. ...eh?

Ghandis message did not exclude defence.

"I do believe that where there is only a choice between cowardice and violence I would advise violence,”

Doctrine of the Sword.

I'm not sure about policy, but Libyan Jewish friends were refused admission to S.A. in the '70s, at the same time as Israeli Jews were being given dual citizenship.

Thanks, very similar to their classification of Japanese and Chinese based purely on economic factors. I've met South Africans from Indonesia who were from Cape Town so I guess they were so called "Coloured" or whatever.
