Seems to be quite common. A huge part of film-making (if not TV always) is editing. If you read scripts for even really good films they can sometimes be quite clunky and exposition-heavy.Seems to be quite common. But then film them just going 'ahh, bollocks' as well to give us what we want. And use that version.
