First Official Portrait of Kate Middleton

Are you also being treated by the best oncologists in the world on the taxpayers' dime?

I'm being treated by the Oncologist and surgeon and nurses and radiologists and phlebotomists and physiotherapists that the NHS have given me. I hope and trust they are competent in their chosen fields.

And, yes, it's on the taxpayers' dime - for which I am eternally grateful.

God bless the NHS ❤

My ex is an oncology nurse. I know the pressure they're under and the stress they soak up. She had the dubious honour of telling people on Tuesdays how long they have to live as she had such a gentle manner and apparently the consultants were not keen on doing this.

Just catching up on this, but wtf is Owen Jones apologising for exactly? What did he say that was suddenly changed by this person announcing she has a disease which affects millions?

He’s just publicly flounced from the Labour party and he’s feeling a bit fragile.

I'm not sure who should be apologising or why, to be honest. Good luck to the woman: we've all got experience of friends and relatives who have had cancer, and some of us will have personally had it or have it. It's not funny, and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Hope she gets the all clear soon.

However, the palace press office did make a huge hash of this. It was reported early on that it wasn't cancer. There was no need for that.

They could have said nothing specific at all, including that there was even an "abdominal procedure". Just that she was taking time off for health reasons and kept that message on repeat. But they didn't.

Equally, had they said nothing at all I bet nobody would have noticed. Who knows which Royal turns up at things from day to day between state openings of Parliament? I certainly don't.

So just as it's a bit rich for the press to be condemning "out of control media speculation" today, so also is it a bit disingenuous for the Palace to be claiming they had no hand in fuelling the frenzy. Of course they did.

Exactly, they choose to lie, not withhold information, actively lie and they got caught. This is all their own doing.

TBF (but why should I) they didn't know it was cancer at the time she was scheduled for the op, they discovered it incidentally (as with HM), and then she wanted to choose the right time to tell the children before going public.

They didn’t but they were still being really sketchy, so all the rumours and memes started before the cancer.

The cancer is horrible but that isn’t the gotcha they seem to think it is.

The moral outrage of the right wing press and assorted public figures and commentators towards conspiracy theorists and those who’ve shared humorous memes in the past few weeks is highly amusing, given that practically all of them are the same people who’ve relentlessly demonised a certain other princess, and literally accused her among other things of helping destroy the planet, massively upsetting the Queen to the point where she might have accelerated her death, and even being a likely contributor to Kate’s poor health in the early days of her mystery illness.

Stand by for ‘Meghan gives Kate cancer’ opinion pieces in the Mail or Express. I genuinely wouldn’t be surprised at all.

It actually looks like that video has been filtered to make it much less glossy than it usually would be. Even her styling, obviously going for downbeat unlike her usual style.
