Exhibition: Soviet Art and Archtitecture

All aboard the 303 bus.
Just got a poster to put up at work for this...... It looks really good on at the royal academy, so thought I'd start a thread for teh urbz.

This exhibition examines Russian avant-garde architecture made during a brief but intense period of design and construction that took place from c.1922 to 1935. Fired by the Constructivist art that emerged in Russia from c.1915, architects transformed this radical artistic language into three dimensions, creating structures whose innovative style embodied the energy and optimism of the new Soviet Socialist state.

29th October - 22nd January.

I imagine I will be making a trip over the xmas period.

I was just looking at the website for this, earlier today. Might go see it on a date soon

That would be an awesome date.

Cant imagine taking anyone i've ever been out with to it though, it would bore them to death in literally seconds.

Best thing is, HE suggested it to ME  :)
I suggested the Secret Art Sale, but it finishes the day after tomorrow :(

I went to this a few weeks ago. It's really interesting. There's quite a few pieces of constructivist art works but the main focus is on various buildings and other building projects. There are pictures from the time but this is contrasted with pictures taken from the 90s showing the state of the buildings then.

Could be a match made in heaven? I'd be way too scared to suggest that as a date

I've not heard of the secret art sale, unless thats the one that happens in battersea is it?

I've heard about open house art viewings in brighton, im gonna go check some out in december hopefully.

Oh fair play....

Was the first one somewhere generic then I take it.... Cinema, Ice skating, or something of that ilk?

:D Might be better to shift this discussion onto the online dating thread, I don't want to piss off the angry art-lovers ... :hmm:

(It involved drinking beer in a pub, and some political ranting, to answer your question :) ).
