From looking at the megatrain and the salisbury bus timetable, the sensible train to get is the 12:20, which gives you 1hr wait for the bus in Salisbury (a spot of lunch and a quick look at the cathedral I think)

Buses from salisbury are:

depart-arrive

0840-0906
1040-1106
1240-1306
1430-1456 - for megatrainers
1705-1731
1745-1811

OR hitch from just south of the cathedral

Or if you were sensible and got the early megatrain, it's the 10:40. :D

Yeah but then you're hanging around outside the festival for an hour. Camping doesn't open till midday.

Good point. nice cafe in Salisbury for breakfast it is then. We'll get the 12.40.

Tell you what though, don't fucking hang about with those megatrain tickets.

The ones I booked have just gone from £8 and £10 for two, to £12 and £17 for two.

the real reason is who wants to be getting to waterloo for 8:40? :)

Me! Top O'the morning! Beer O' clock! What's wrong with the young people of today, eh? eh? :D

I realise that they are considered to be pure evil at festivals, but I am half considering bringing the gazebo that we put up in the back garden to stop the nippers getting sunburnt. I'm thinking more that if it is pissing down on the friday then we can huddle under it swigging cocktails before hiding in the main tents like everyone else.

Almost toying with the idea of bringing my palatial tent...
 Now, I have been thinking the same thing (but i arent got one yet) - I reckon it'd be ok amongst a commune of tents.

I've just had a flash back to last year, of you trying to erect some makeshift shelter......:D

I say bring the gazebo. It'll be great for camp urban.

Not I  . We're on the 12:20, I rarely get up before 9am on a workday.

Apologies if posting the link up has pushed up the prices for folk who were waiting.

Take a picnic?

That might be a nicer idea than the cafe actually. We can go and sit in those woods with a nice bit of cheese and crackers and a few ales.

Hehehe - forgot about that. I had fun! Despite the project finally being abandoned as a total failiure.

Heh - I'm the same. :D

And I'm not even old or anything, I've always been like that. :(

:) I wish Kate Bush was playing here.... any chance of some Kate, Dubs?????

why doesnt she do festies???

Hmm I'd like Clap your hands say yeah to play aswell coz that would be super:cool:

I'm probably catching the 10:40. I wouldn't even go as early as that, were it not for living 15 mins bus ride from Waterloo.

On a Network SE card, tickets are open, you can get any train out (except rush hour) and any train back.

I can offer anyone happening to travel around the same time as me a third off on the back of my railcard. You out up with my company, but you save money!

Now pretty certain that I'll have to go back to work the Tuesday after, they will allow me festival leave, but not inbetween festival leave ;) for the rest of the week.

So travel there and back with me and you get a third off the weekend return price. Not as cheap as Megatrain, but still a saving, and which train you get back is more flexible.

I live on the 341 bus route but I'm still not getting up that early.

I'll wait for all the rush hour commuters to piss off to work before I carry my brand new 1m diameter tent  through London down to Waterloo.

Is that why you walk around with a big tub of hoover dust to keep yourself awake? :D

I hate those gimick days/places at festies.

I was watching some Glastonbury coverage the other night and there was a tv outside the Ballroom at Lost Vagueness only letting certain well dressed punters.

Its just like being at school/out in town. Only the best dressed can be part of the gang.....

The ladies day last year was very much an opt-in thing. There didn't seem to be any more to it than various women (and various men) wearing silly clothes in a general atmosphere of bon homie.

Yea, it was much of a muchness wasnt it.

Sorry, the rant wasnt really aimed at Ladies day, it was merely a trigger :(

of course. and it never bloody works. but i still try.

it's the thought that counts. :D

It works fine, that hoover dust. Can you bring some? :) :D

Or I suppose some stall might be selling it ...

I bought some x5 of the stuff this year at strawberry fair, you can have it if you like, it was bad for me.

It turns out that it only keeps me awake for about an hour more than I would anyway, and it makes me forget the whole evening. No point at all, I just don't get on with the stuff.

legal highs are rubbish, kids, don't bother. :D

Thanks for that Stig, I can make use of some and give away the rest .... will repay you in beer :)

Works for me for an extra two hours and it never gave me that forgetting stuff thing, that was just the weed :D

This fest is getting an ever more alluring prospect, BRING IT ON!!! :D

It's a really good sign of where you shouldn't go.

Also, that something is past it's time. "Oh, you paid £145 to fund this festival? And that festival pays us to put this on? Well, fuck off, 'cos you're not dressed right."

Probably the best thing to do is to take a lot of very trashed mudcoated crusties to wrestle them to the ground.
