The campervan area is in the car park field nearest the tents. Literally a stone's throw.

in the car park?! :(

Hmm...still - if it's close by that is cool, I don't want to be too far from the urban gazebo mothership... :)

The general car park turns into a campervan park as it nears the tents. It's fine and not as ignominious as it sounds. I would suggest that we built the gazebo edifice around your van as without something solid to build on to/act as a wind break - it might be tricky.

Shall I bring my big speakers? Or is that sort of thing frowned on?
Why not - 'tis a festival isn't it?

:D Oh yes. I'm not too bad at chucking a shelter together.

Sounds like it's going to be miles away though, and where are we going to get the spacehoppers?

aha, we get the cocktail palace at the tent end, marvellous. :D

wow!!! what a dome :) *drools*

um, the dome was actually freee spirit's dome, shame, that's definitely not coming with us.

The white tarp for the bender was Bees' tarp, too.

Someone else brought the poles all the way from Scotland :D does anyone remember who it was? Do they still post here?

The only thing we have at the moment is a small-ish green tarp and some polyprop.

I'm sure we'll do wonders with it though...

i just found out:

this is interesting to people taking the train:

the train leaving from waterloo to salisbury is on the 4 for 2 offer sheme.

so any 4 people travelling together pay a total of £69 only. only after rushhour 9.30 am. applies to staying for 3 days ie friday to monday. good offer innit.

That's a good idea - and AFAIK Citydreams is bringing his campervan too so if we arrive in convoy we can make a windbreak extraordinaire :)

Well if you and citydreams are willing to play host, are arriving friday afternoon then park up next to each other with a decent space between, and we can fill the space in between with gazebos, tarps, etc and make a cosy dry spot.

Stig - love bender too! Did you have solar powered sounds?

I reckon it's gonna be a mofo shelter :)

Nice idea - yep we're planning to arrive late lunch/early afternoon :)

She has a pretty good track record ;)

(ETA : See NVP's pic above (from Glasto 2002).. The geodome was from free spirit, the impressive home made construction was Stig's, using hazel branches imported specially from Scotland ... whatever happened to those lovely people who drove them down on their van?? )

Another ETA, oh bollocks, I see Stig has explained all that already anyway ...

Slap to self : read ALL thread's updates before posting

I wonder how that would compare with me taking 3 people on my Network SE card? I suspect it would work out very similar ... about £17 each ..... sounds about the same :)

Only the megatrain deal is cheaper, and thats more restrictive on travelling times I think.

The most ideal situation would be for the campervans to park up next to the hedge that seperates the campervans and the tents. Then the urban campers and urban vanners can be next to each other. I saw people doing the same last year (that's what you did Aurora wasn't it?) . Go for near the top corner of the campervan field - presuming the layout is the same (which it won't be) then we should aim for this:

Good plan.

We'll get there, ask where the campeervan field is, field off the funny looks we get because we so obviously don't have a campervan on us, and then camp near there.

The campervans will need to get there early to park in that spot... It was full up quite quickly last year, and there were loads of campers in the car park - less cool place to camp...

yay yay yay - endorse it is the only other festie I'm doing this year and it's going to be SUPERCOOL!!!

'Unmanned' hedges will get wee'd on. But ones inside a group of tents should be fine. It's a small festy and doesn't get that anonymous hoarde thing like Glastonbury.

I think with the size of our contingent we should politely ask Mr Flounder if we can reserve a spot :)

I'm sure the answer would be no - but nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Nah, if I turned up at a festival and saw a sign saying 'this place reserved for ... etc' I'd think it sucked.

Idaho - that sounds like a plan :)

Is there a hole in the fence so people can get to the campervan field though - or am I being really dense? :D wouldn't there just be a great big hedge between us? :D

This is true.
We were there really early last year, (by some strange quirk)
We don't have a van, but our friends who we camped right next to, (other side of the hedge) were among the first people allowed on site...

I take your point. Howabout we just ask to be allowed on site 10 mins before anyone else - no signs needed.

Ah balls - lots of us just have to get there early and stake a claim. Should all be fine.

Last year the hedge had lots of gaps in it.
