well, yes and no. there were organized boycotts but the majority of people just made a personal decision to cancel service or switch to a different bank

And you don't think the organised boycotts had an influence on those people who decided to switch?

Isn't feeling better about yourself a good enough reason alone to do it?

However, say I boycott nestle, I might feel good about myself for not using a shitty company, but I also feel bad about myself for not being able to eat kit-kats anymore.

maybe? I don't know, and I don't think there's hard data out there. I'm just going by my interpretations at the time. The facebook boycott pages don't really have that many members, a tiny percentage of the total number who switched

How will that make any difference? The system is unethical and let's say that some unethical companies do go bust, all that will happen is that others will take their place

Surely if some unethical companies go bust, the other companies aren't going to go down the same road for fear of it happening to them.
