This was a drizzly miners gala, they are not often wet. It could have put some off but I think the gale was as large as last year if not bigger. I will have to consult comrades further before I give a definitive estimate of attendance.
Politically of course it was a Corbyn fest, and there's lots of political work to do, but this has engaged new people and reenergised others.

See that is natural, powerful public speaking. I hope he's giving Corbs some lessons.

Here is one of the best public speakers I ever had the pleasure of meeting.
The late, great, sadly missed Bob Crow, three years ago at the Durham Miner's Gala.

That was my favourite year so far Sprocket. Bob was brilliant.
Thought this year the speakers were poor, didn't even wait for Corbyn as the kids were bored and we'd spent all the money. We are up very early to get there before 9 so by 2pm we're done in and on the way home.
Still a brilliant day though, with the banners and the bands and the people all happy and having a great day. Always lifts the spirits even when it rained.
