DPRK vs Portugal

Hmm. I actually thought Korea might have a chance of a draw in this one. That was a bit wrong.

its not even a real country and they're a joke we keep right on the edge of the continent where nobody has to look at them except their closest neighbours, and they hate them most of all.

fucking portuguese.

as far as i know israel, belarus, etc, aren't disqualified from playing in the world cup or the european championships. all sorts of nasty regimes play in the world cup, ivory coast has hardly been much better in the last few years with its fascist style goose stepping anti-muslim "youth movement" a few years back

there's an argument that including a team like north korea in the world cup will enable it to be more of a part of the world community and to open up a bit more in terms of the freedom of the press etc ...

anyway its just football innit? :hmm:

Israel and belarus were both elimnated in the qualifying rounds.

Belarus were in the european championships a while back though (where they were beaten 6-0 in a similar manner to what's happened here, I think by denmark). And neither team are in the world cup but neither were they were barred from trying to qualify which is my point :hmm:

Btw what was going on in the 6th goal(?) when the keeper wasn't even anywhere the ball, seemed just like he'd given up :hmm:

To be fair NK have played a lot better than that scoreline would suggest ...

until the second goal, yes. It has to be said that they're a pretty good team when defending in block and striking on the counter-attack, but after they decided to play one-on-one they've played like what expected from them before the tournament started.

As for the game, huge result, which takes all pressure from playing Brazil, even opening a defeat as an option (as long as they avoid getting six rammed again, stupid cards or injuries). I'm mostly surprised with Queirós, with smart subs. Also Ronaldo, possibly had the least possession time in years, and it showed - attack flows a lot better when he's moving the ball and running without possession, dragging defenders away from the ball carrier and the players targeting the goal. Garbage goal, but for once he deserved it.

For the negative side, defense still had too many gaping holes, and I can't see any possible improvements right now.
