Double carbs

Corned beef and potato pie, my dad used to make a great one with puff pastry.
I normally do CB hash, but I think I'll turn it into a pie next time

No. You can argue about the ethics and business practices ( like any non co-operative local vegan restaurant or restaurant chain) all day long.

But the food is pretty good. Excellent on some offers.
I've had it 3 times and been disappointed every time.

I guess opinions differ.

Jamaican veg patty in a toasted pitta bread.... Often cut patty in two and make it two pittas.

If feeling fancy can add coleslaw

Good lunch, a patty on its own isn't filling enough

I just suggested this to OH who loves double carbing it, loves Jamaican patties, and loves putting things in pitta bread - and he just looked utterly horrified - I think you broke him 🤣

And let's be completely clear here, I am talking about a man who regularly puts stuff in un-iced doughnut shells (which he gets for free from work) and then nukes them.

Sounds ok. But chips on the side would add to it…

I used to get kebab from this great place near where I lived when I lived in Hackney when I was first in London and lived in that part of town - mixed shish, Turkish pide, rice, chips - it was all served separately so you'd get a box of rice topped with the meat, a box of salad, a box of chips, and a massive pide - absolutely lush and another great multi-carb experience.

Love pide. Tried it Turkey last year for the first time. Never have I enjoyed a holiday so much for food. I hate to imagine how much weight I'd gain if I lived there are

Its true, for me if eating out its mainly turkish food and when the bread comes i always think its surplus but it always gets eaten, despite the chips and rice (i prefer bulgar wheat tho)

Oh I have a recipe suggestion for a very easy version that seems to be nearly foolproof:

I’ve not heard of that. But there is a kebab shop here that does gozleme. I may have spelt that wrong. A giant fluffy flatbread with of cheese and or spinach and onion. warm for breakfast, delicious. i’ve only ever seen in this one place though.

I do it using this recipe fairly frequently and can vouch that it works and provides very tasty Turkish style bread!
I don't cook it on quite that high a temp cos my oven is fierce as fuck, I find 220 to 230C sufficient.
I'm definitely going to try this, thanks! ♥️

I don't find English double carb options (chip butties, etc) at all appetizing but if I'm having an Indian curry, I will have rice and bread, and it's not a complete experience if either is missing. Had Nepalese last night and of carbs it included rice, poppadom, potatoes in a mix of fried vegetables (with crisped up edges!), then again potatoes in a vegetable-lentil curry. Heaven. Ate too much, naturally. Regret nothing.

Lasagne and garlic bread.
Curried potato pie (sort of pork pie without lard or pork; a raised pie)
Rice and potatoes flavoured with cumin seed.
Does dahl count? Dahl and bread.
And of course, the standard ones, chip butty and crisp sandwich. If banana counts as carbs, banana sandwich. I do like my carbs :)
